“Kind words are a revelation and a revolution that fly in the face of society's norms. Your griever walks away from your shared interaction feeling lighter, knowing that someone-you, dear comforter-sees them, cares about them, validates them, and is gently holding hope for them in the midst of their grief. Your connection with them is strengthened, and you close your eyes, remembering that while your existence on planet earth may be small, your words have just contributed to its healing. You cannot possibly know all the ripple effects of this one interaction, but you're looking forward to-instead of dreading-having another one like it. Because you've found a way to be a source of ongoing comfort in a world overcome by loss.
I don't know about you, but to me, that is a miracle."
