Proud of our Eagle Scout candidate for leading a project with Green Kirkland at Heritage Park! The team tackled a dense stand of invasive blackberry bushes with deep, stubborn root system. Through determination, the Scouts cleared more than twice the originally planned area and finished by spreading 17 cubic yards of wood chips to help prevent the invasives from returning.

Great work by the crew and a real win for the park. Thanks to Green Kirkland for the partnership!

Eagle Scout candidate working on completing her outstanding Eagle Scout Service Project! Working with the City, they planned, designed, built, and installed bat houses in local parks to provide habitat for native bats that naturally help reduce mosquitoes and garden pests. This project will benefit both our community and local wildlife for years to come.

A continuation from an earlier Eagle Project that removed invasive blackberry and ivy from Fisk Park in December. Our scout has chosen to pursue the Scouting America Distinguished Conservation Service Award and go a step beyond. Today they replanted the area, and now they will study the impact of their work on the local bee population weekly for the next few months. We are sure the bees will be happy to see the improvements in this park!

Pre-Camporee campout for the troop to learn outdoor skills. Lots of first time campers. Scouts enjoyed Ax/saw/knife safety, knots, flags, orienteering, first aid, fire making, cooking, Dutch oven and ended Saturday night with a small campfire. Dess
