This is a long time coming. This project has been going on for a year and a half. Today it all came together and there are 6 new benches at the City Park and a sign at each entrance. There will be another bench installed in the coming weeks.

Thanks to Wildcat 4H for putting benches together.

Have you noticed the new lights at the park at night? We received a grant for new LED lights around the park to help deter vandalism at night. It is even more obvious that the benches have been removed from the park, WHY you ask? New metal benches have been purchased from a grant that we received and the benches will be installed as soon as weather permits. They will be set on concrete pads and we are waiting for the rain to stop so the ground can dry up a bit. At the same time 2 new signs will be installed at the 2 entrances of the park. We are working on have a concrete pad installed for a full court basketball court. This will move the basketball court out of the parking lot. Also the fence around the pavilion has been replaced. We hope that you enjoy all the new things happening at the park. We want to make other improvements as we are able to secure funding for these projects. If you find it in your heart to make a donation or you want to volunteer for a project, please contact us.

This is why we cant have anything nice for the kids to do. There were individuals from the Chamber of Commerce at the park yesterday at 3pm making plans for putting up more decorations and they are back at 11am today and found damage that wasnt there at 3 yesterday. This is ridiculous. We can't make plans for walking trails, benches and possibly a splash pad when there are individuals vandalizing Christmas decorations and trash cans.

Come out and help us clean up the park and get it ready for Christmas decorations. We are accepting donations to have security lights installed and duck feeding signs. We need the communities help to keep the parks clean.

This page has been created to inform the citizens of Kirbyville about projects that we want to do at the City Park to make it better for our citizens. Donations from the citizens may be made by dropping them off at the Banner Office Mon, Tuesday, Thursday or Friday 8 to 5 or the Pickett Fence Tuesday or Thursday 10 to 5. There will be a donate button on this page or the Kirbyville Area Chamber of Commerce page. This is a joint venture between the two organizations with the help of local businesses, organizations and individuals to help beautify this park and help keep it clean. The first few projects are better security lights, duck feeding signs, security cameras, walking trails, benches, and more. As money is raised for projects, we will need volunteers to help with the projects. The city will continue to fix the sewer problem by the creek and fix bathrooms that vandals have destroyed. If we can get help from the citizens thru donations and volunteering, we would like to install a Splashpad for the kids thru grant money from the state. But we need to first show that we can take care of the facilities that are already provided at the park.
