COURTESY POST
CARBONDALE, CO

Georgie is a very sweet 2 year old blue heeler mix who loves outdoor adventures, playing with other dogs and snuggling with her humans. She loves running through the snow and carrying sticks too big for her. She will hike with you all day every day or happily hang around the house after a neighborhood walk. She is highly food motivated and enjoys training, she would do best with regular opportunities to train and work her brain. She's about 60lb, healthy, spayed and is up to date on vaccines.
She has been a part of our family for most of her life, since she was about 9 weeks old, and has been a wonderful dog. However, since the birth of our first child, she has become increasingly protective of our home, and anxious around visitors she doesn't know. She would do best in a quieter home that can slowly introduce her to new people inside the home with patience and the structure of her training plan made from a professional dog trainer. She does warm up to new people with gradual introduction, then becomes very affectionate and excited to see her new friends. Once you're in, you're in! She loves other dogs, but does not like very young puppies. She is great with our baby, but anxious around young children and has trouble curbing her herding instincts. She would do best in a home without small children. She is such a special, smart, sweet dog who we know will thrive in a new home! We would be happy to pay for training sessions to help with the transition.

IF YOU CAN GIVE GEORGIE THE LOVE AND HOME SHE DESERVES REACH OUT TO: [email protected]

UPDATE SUDIE WAS ADOPTED! One down three to go!!

COURTESY POST
YOUNG COUNTY, TEXAS

A number of Heelers in need!!

Claddagh (black-spotted female, 5m) - Claddagh arrived to us non-weight-bearing on her front left paw. She was picked up as a stray on 03/17/2026. She has since started limping on it but needs more than we can provide. She is a typical puppy and loves everyone and all things! She is dog- and kid-friendly. She is currently being housed in a crate due to no space, and she is doing a good job keeping it cleaned.

Sudie (tri-color female, 4 yrs) - Sudie came to us as a stray on 03/28/2026. She is a big cuddle bug that wants nothing more than to climb and sit on top of you! She is very laid back and low energy. She is house trained and does great in her kennel. She is dog-friendly but doesn't want a puppy to play with that jumps on her; she prefers to co-exist. She is great with kids; we are unsure about cats. She just wants an older lady or man (she loves everyone) to cuddle up with all day!

Dingo (black/tan, 2 years old) - Dingo is a goofy boy. Built like a heeler but colored like ? He is a goofy boy who enjoys running his zoomies out in the yard (for as long as his little legs can handle). He is dog friendly and kid friendly. He is sensitive for a Heeler and tries very hard to please you. He is working on housetraining. He was surrendered to us on 03/11/2026 to get out of tickets.

Ozzy Pawsbourne (White/Black 2yrs) - Ozzy is a very sweet and calm dog. She is very stressed here and needs out asap. She is dog friendly and loves to go outside and play in the yard. She is not cat-friendly, unfortunately. She is kid-friendly and has never met a stranger. She enjoys playing outside in the water and biting at it as it comes out of the house. She is considered urgent due to kennel stressed and us being full.

If you can’t find a place in your home and heart for one of these, please share!!

SAN DIEGO

Meet Rascal! He is a 2 year old 25 pound heeler with a big personality and loving demeanor. He loves to play fetch in the backyard and cuddle up at night and watch shows with his people.

Unfortunately, he recently got out of the house (not his fault) and got into an altercation with another dog. During the incident, the other dog’s owner intervened, and my foster dog bit the person requiring hospitalization and stitches for the owner.

As a result, the shelter I’m working with has determined that he will be euthanized due to concerns about behavioral aggression as this is his second bite issue (reason he was returned to the shelter before we took him in).

Over the past month this love bug has been such a light in our home. He is affectionate and playful and the sweetest cuddle buddy.

We are devastated because we know he has so much potential and just needs someone to believe in him to give him the structure and training that he has never received.

I have been told over and over that a dog with this history is nearly impossible to place but I am desperate to find anybody that may be able to take rascal or point me in any direction that could help.

I am more than willing to provide additional details or assist in any way I can to help find him a safe outcome. I’ve attached some photos of the little guy, who has been such a fun, cuddly light in our home. Please let me know if I can answer any further questions.

Additional Details:

Location: San Diego (Wiling to transport anywhere and cover transportation costs)

Not good with other animals and needs a home without children

Neutered

House Broken

These dogs typically don’t exhibit this behavior. They just need the right setting and environment. If he fits you please reach out, save a life! If not, please share!

Handsome dogs! Give them a chance!!

Transport available!! More pics and videos available upon request.

These two handsome boys exhibit many of the traits typical of working breeds and would greatly benefit from a breed-experienced placement. We remain deeply committed to their success and have recently brought in a professional trainer—both dogs are already responding well and showing promising progress. That said, they still require a high level of structure, consistency, and experienced handling that goes beyond what we can safely provide in a shelter setting. Heelers don’t do well in a shelter setting and are much more likely to be euthanized than other breeds! We are concerned that, without intervention or transfer, their outcome may be euthanasia. Our volunteers just don’t have the experience to handle working dogs, let alone help them progress to the point where they are adoptable which is why we need help ASAP!

ZORRO (1 Year Old, Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler)
S*x: Male, Neutered
Weight: 54 lbs
Medical Status: Vaccinated (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), Heartworm tested negative
Temperament: Zorro is an intense, highly intelligent, and energetic working dog with strong herding instincts. He would thrive best in a calm and consistent environment. He is a sensitive dog who mirrors the energy around him, doing best with steady, quiet guidance. Zorro can struggle with self-regulation and becomes easily overstimulated, which may lead to jumping or nipping behaviors. He also shows some resource guarding tendencies and benefits from clear boundaries and respect for his space and possessions.

RED (7 Year, 8 months Red Heeler)
S*x: Male, Neutered
Weight: 75 lbs
Medical Status: Vaccinated (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), Heartworm tested negative
Temperament: Red is an older distinguished gentleman; classic heeler traits—loyal, energetic, and happiest when he has a job to do. Even though age has slowed him down a bit he has shown resource guarding behaviors, particularly with toys (especially balls), and can be protective of his home and space. He has a history of biting when overstimulated or when high-value items are taken from him, so he requires a confident, experienced handler who understands behavior management and is committed to ongoing training. He would do best in a calm, structured, environment.

COURTESY POST
Oskar in Craig, Colorado

Update: OSKAR NEEDS A HOME!! He has not had any other issues but would still do best as the only dog in a household. Please share and find this beautiful dog a home!!

This is Oskar, who was brought into a local veterinary clinic to be euthanized in September of 2025. Everyone who meets him does not believe this should be his fate! Oskar has been relinquished by his owner. Oskar is a heeler/Australian shepherd cross. He is a neutered, four-year-old male. His vaccinations are current. He was brought in due to the owner being sentenced to jail. The owner has substance abuse issues and has not provided a stable household for Oskar, since he was a pup. Nonetheless, Oskar is your typical heeler and is very protective of his owner. That protectiveness got him in trouble when he bit another intoxicated individual who was approaching him and the owner at a store. Oskar has not shown this type of behavior at the clinic where he currently resides.

The clinic worker has spent much time in the run with him, on the floor, playing with him, and giving him attention face-to-face. She was shocked to learn he had a bite history. She said he was nothing but happy, playful, and demanding belly rubs and butt scratches. He was curious about the camera when his picture was taken by someone new, but he had relaxed, secure body language and approached appropriately for attention and exhibited good manners with both people. He was very friendly and obedient as they spent time out in the yard of the clinic. He was very amiable and quiet when he was put back into his run. He is not yet ready for other dogs and would do best as the only pet in the household. Great for a working person who travels in his truck and works more removed from people and other animals. Oskar has no experience with children so we do not know how he would act.

Oskar deserves a home and family that love him. We are not going to let him down. If you think you might be the right one for Oskar please contact Kathy at the information below. If you’re not the right one, please share! We can’t let him down! What a handsome dog too, those eyes!!

ADOPTED!!

Blue has been through it all, dumped, abandoned by his owner, along with his sister. They euthanized his sister and he was already in the room to be euthanized when I called and said “Wait, I’ll take him!” He had intestinal worms, pneumonia and was heart worm positive. We helped him get healthy and he dealt with it all like a champ! He has found an amazing home with his dad, Eric, a new canine brother “Fisher” and a new feline sister “Cat” (who is clearly in charge). He gets to run with Fisher on 20 acres and check out the moose and other wildlife. He couldn’t be happier and neither could I! Congratulations!!!

HELP NEEDED 2 HEELERS IN TEXAS

I’m reaching out for help with 2 bonded Blue Heelers who have been surviving on their own for months in the Atascocita/Houston, TX area (near FM 1960, Atascocita Rd, and Will Clayton). They cross busy roads daily and are at very high risk and have had to endure all sorts of terrible Texas weather.

They are not aggressive but very scared and will not allow anyone to get close. Because of this, they will need to be professionally darted & trapped.

The team has already raised $600 for a licensed trapper and have been in contact with the trapper who is ready to act as soon as needed.

However, they can’t move forward with trapping until they have somewhere to go. They desperately need a foster, rescue or other organization to commit to giving these good boys a second chance. We have had several possible fosters fall through at the last moment.

Other funds are available to assist in vet care and evaluation, meds and treatments as needed, food and supplies, transport and other rescue related costs.

These boys are bonded and always together. They have shown no aggression toward people or other dogs, just fear.

If you are able to help, want to foster or know of another rescue who might be able to assist please contact:

ADOPTED!!!!

Russell, our first deaf Heeler was adopted before he was even listed as available! The perfect family contacted me, with deaf Heeler experience and tons of land!!! It just doesn’t get any better than that! He has a high fenced area where he can run free off leash, which is so amazing! Thank you to the Nottingham family for giving Russell such a wonderful loving home!! Picture with his Dad, his new canine brother, sleeping every night on the couch while Mom knits, his adoption day photo (carrying the cake by the candle)😊, and sleeping on the way to his new home. CONGRATULATIONS!!!

COURTESY POST -Colorado

Meet Zeus! He’s 4 years old, up to date on everything. Has had training, listens well when corrected, sits, stays, lays, shakes, retrieves objects and can even return his toys to the toy bin!! He’s about 60 lbs. He is reactive to strangers in both human and dog form. His family is concerned as he fights with their existing dog occasionally and they are currently expecting their first child. They would like to find a good home for Zeus! He is loved by his current family and they want to ensure he goes to the right home!

I think he could use additional training regarding his reactive behavior. I recommend the facility in Castle Rock. In addition, he could probably use more exercise and slow introductions to new people or dogs.
