A new national study found Eagle Scouts step up for their communities at higher rates than their peers. More leadership roles, more volunteering, more confidence that they’re making a difference. Turns out all those years of service projects add up to something real. ⭐

☀️ Troop 727 Summer Camp 10 day Countdown – Camp Woodruff Prep! 🏕️⚜️

Hello Troop 727 Scouts and Families!

Summer Camp at Camp Woodruff is almost here, and now is the time to make sure everyone is camp-ready! Please review the Camp Woodruff Forms & Documents page for important camp information, required forms, packing lists, schedules, and parent resources:

Important reminders:
✅ Every Scout and adult attending camp must have a current BSA Annual Health & Medical Record (Parts A, B & C) completed and signed by a physician.

✅ Review any additional forms that may apply to your Scout, including swim checks, medication forms, special dietary needs, and activity waivers.

***The Troop swim test activity was already completed. If Scouts or Parents still need this you will have to do this upon arrival at Camp Woodruff. ***

✅ Check out the “What to Bring” section for packing recommendations, including uniforms, rain gear, water bottles, toiletries, merit badge materials, and spending money for the Trading Post.

✅ Scouts should begin reviewing their merit badge schedules and completing any prerequisites before arriving at camp.

Camp Woodruff offers an amazing week of adventure, merit badges, waterfront activities, climbing, shooting sports, whitewater experiences, and more in the beautiful North Georgia mountains!

Let’s be prepared and make this an outstanding week for Troop 727! If you have questions, please attend the Troop meetings before we leave. This week we will be deciding on our Troop skits we want yo perform at camp. Please bring your ideas!! This is one of the best parts of camp!

This is so important for our Scouts and families. PLEASE plan for the hot weather that is upon us.

Going out this weekend to Lake Conroe? Remember, heat-related illnesses can occur while on the lake too. If you or someone you're with begins displaying these symptoms, please take action. If you need immediate medical attention, dial 911. Remember to have a fitting life jacket for each occupant and be sensible and be safe!

Starting June 1, Scouting America is waiving the $85 national registration fee for eligible youth in active duty, reserve and National Guard families through our new Military Family Fee Waiver program.

Enrolling is simple. Register online, select "𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗠𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁" at checkout and complete the verification process.

Today, small flags mark the graves of those who gave everything. They dot lawns and front porches across our neighborhoods — quiet reminders of a debt we can never fully repay.

As Scouts, we are taught to honor those who served. Today, we live it.

Troop 727 is grateful for the freedom that was bought at great cost. May we never take it for granted.

Only about 4% ofScouts ever reach the rank of Eagle — and last night, seven young men from Kingwood Troop 727 joined that legacy at our Gathering of Eagles Court of Honor. 🦅
Meet our newest Eagles and the communities they served:
🌿 Joseph built butterfly garden planters at Brookwood Forest Elementary — earning official Monarch Butterfly Waystation certification and supporting monarch migration.
💧 Michael led a storm drain marking initiative across Harris County to protect local bayous and waterways from pollution at the source.
🌱 Drake rebuilt the greenhouse worktables at Jesse Jones Park, strengthening habitat restoration and environmental education for the whole community.
🌳 Carver replanted 15 trees along Woodland Hills Drive after Hurricane Beryl, helping restore the neighborhood’s tree canopy and improve stormwater management.
🦋 Austin created a butterfly garden at St. Martha’s Catholic School to give students a living classroom for studying local ecosystems and wildlife.
🌻 Tristan transformed the Learning Garden at Lone Star College–Kingwood into a vibrant, welcoming space for students and faculty to connect with nature.
🏟️ DX designed and built a gaga ball pit at St. Martha’s, giving students a fun, active, and inclusive place to play and grow together.
None of this happens without a village. A heartfelt thank you to the parents and families who sacrificed countless hours, the troop leaders who guided and challenged these young men every step of the way, and a Kingwood community that showed up in the biggest way. 🙏
Last night we were also joined by Eagle Scout alumni spanning generations — including one remarkable 82-year-old Eagle Scout grandfather who reminded every single person in that room that this brotherhood is truly for life. Once an Eagle, always an Eagle. 🦅
