The President General is the official spokesperson on issues that have not been addressed as policy of NSDAR. Cheat River Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a new chapter forming in Preston County, WV. The DAR is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's service organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing Ame

rica's future through better education for children. Membership is open to any women who is no less than eighteen years of age and can prove lineal, blood line descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American Independence. Cheat River Chapter is celebrating 5 years!

During our anniversary celebration, we presented DAR Historical Preservation Awards to two outstanding individuals and one organization:

🏅 Arthurdale Heritage, Inc. received the DAR Historic Preservation Recognition award, with Director Kenneth Kidd accepting the award on behalf of the organization.

🏅 Susan Miller received the DAR Historic Preservation Recognition award for her work in preserving the Preston Academy.

🏅 Rosemary Bernatowicz received the DAR Historic Preservation Medal for her work in preservation of the historic James C. McGrew House.

We believe that preserving our history is an important way to honor those who came before us and ensure their stories will continue to be shared with future generations. We are grateful to these deserving honorees, and to everyone throughout Preston County who works to protect and preserve the places, stories, and history that make our community so special.
