While most people are home with family or relaxing on the weekend, volunteer firefighters are out training for the calls our rural communities depend on us to handle.
This past weekend, two of our firefighters, Michael Farrell and Stephen Beall, completed the 2-day TFACA Rural Water Supply course sponsored by the Roane County EOC. From drafting water out of ponds, lakes, streams, and pools to establishing safe and efficient rural water shuttle operations, this training prepares firefighters for the realities of fighting fires where hydrants may not exist.
Rural firefighting takes constant training, teamwork, and dedication, all on our firefighters’ own time. If you’d like to support the men and women who continue to train for our community, follow, share, and support the South Roane County Volunteer Fire Department.
