Check out this great feature below on Tim O'Donnell '99, one of the world's top triathletes. This feature was written by David Bass '84, who is also a standout triathlete himself and a pillar in the local triathlon and racing community as an event organizer and supporter of local races.

For local multi-sport athletes, 2019 is a year many will remember. Some gathered in groups across the Wyoming Valley, watching their computer screens and cheering wildly as an American did the seemingly impossible at the Ironman World Championship in Kona, Hawaii.

Despite temperatures that felt more like March than May — and even a little hail — the Wyoming Seminary Open in Memory of Rusty Flack ’72 on Friday, May 8 was filled with great golf, laughter, and camaraderie. Thank you to everyone who braved the elements and made it such a memorable day honoring Rusty’s legacy.

Congratulations to our winning foursome: Jamie Anzalone ’98, Frank Nockley ’20, David Janerich ’05, and Jon Janerich ’07! 🏌️‍♂️⛳👏

Saturday of Alumni Weekend 2026 was filled with meaningful moments, reconnecting, and plenty of fun across campus!

The day began with campus tours, breakfast in Fleck Hall, and the annual Memorial Service at the Church of Christ Uniting honoring classmates from reunion years who have passed away.

Activities continued throughout the afternoon with lunch under the tent on Back Campus, followed by a pottery class with Upper School Art Teacher Colleen Ayers, a hands-on presentation by Sem’s Robotics Club, and a tennis round robin led by faculty member Jill Carrick.

Later that evening, reunion classes gathered at the President’s home and the Head of Upper School’s home for cocktail receptions. During the reception at the President’s home, Janet Murray ’76 was presented with the Alumni Association Award in recognition of her unselfish and dedicated service to the School. Alumni then came together under the tent for dinner, celebrating, dancing, and reminiscing late into the evening.

A wonderful time was had by all! Stay tuned — photo IDs are still to come.

Alumni Weekend 2026 kicked off this past Friday at Assembly with a special visit from Jeff Klein ’74, who was warmly welcomed by the student body as this year’s alumni speaker. Jeff sat down for a thoughtful interview with Ellie Kersey ’27 and Matt Mascarenhas ’26, sharing stories and reflections from his time at Sem and beyond.

Friday evening, the Tower Society Reception and Distinguished Service Awards Presentation celebrated two extraordinary members of the Sem community. Sem proudly recognized beloved retired faculty member Mary Ann Hopkins and Jeff Klein ’74 as recipients of the Joseph C. Donchess Distinguished Service Award — the School’s highest honor.

Stay tuned for another post featuring pictures from all the fun reunion classes had back on campus Saturday!

Sweet Success: Celebrating Our Parent Participation!
To celebrate the classes that led the charge during Give Day, we hosted some delicious celebrations across campus.

🍦 Ice Cream Truck Winners
A huge shoutout to the classes with the highest parent participation in their respective divisions! The ice cream truck stopped by to visit: Freshman Class, 5th Grade, and Preschool.

Pizza & Donut Perks
We also recognized the classes that reached the impressive milestone of over 75% parent participation:

🍕 Kindergarten & 1st Grade: Pizza Party champions!
🍩 Preschool: Celebrating with a festive Donut Party.

Thank you to all our parents for your dedication to the Annual Gift. These treats are a small token of our gratitude for the big impact you make on our community every day.
