New and early-stage business owners often face challenges securing financing from traditional lenders. That's where our Micro Enterprise Loan Program comes in. 💡

John was inspired to start Rootd Modular after getting involved with the Kingston Housing Task Force. His business helps facilitate the creation of more housing, by providing site feasibility studies to identify potential obstacles to permitting in advance.

He used our Micro Enterprise Loan Program to purchase photogrammetry equipment for these studies. Here, you can see the scanner in use at a former bungalow colony in Ellenville, which the owner hopes to restore into additional housing.

Have you been swimming at Sojourner Truth State Park yet? The new Lake Sophia swimming complex is now open, and it's a beautiful place to enjoy your summer in Kingston!

There's an ADA accessible floating swim crib, a roped-off open swimming area, a spacious bathhouse pavilion, and plenty of space in the sun or shade to rest.

The facilities are open daily through Labor Day Weekend, so make sure to plan your swimming day if you haven't already! If you don't want to worry about parking, take the Ulster County Nature Bus’ River Route, running every other Saturday through September.

Meet our Board Secretary and Disposition of Property Chair, Paul Casciaro!

Paul leads The Reis Group and has decades of experience in insurance and risk management, serving sectors like healthcare, education, and manufacturing.

His deep knowledge of risk, finance, and business operations fuels KLDC’s mission for sustainable economic growth in Kingston.

Beyond business, Paul has held leadership roles with local organizations such as UPAC, Ulster County Workforce Development Board, YMCA Pro-Am Committee, and the Ulster County Italian American Foundation.

In his spare time, Paul enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time outdoors with family and friends. 🏌️‍♀️

If you want to add an ADU to your property, but you're not sure whether it's feasible, call Rootd Modular.

Our Micro-Enterprise Loan client, John, used the funding for scanning equipment to conduct site feasibility studies. 📸 Using photogrammetry technology, the camera's scans create point clouds to generate a digital 3D replica of the site. This rendering becomes a foundation for an architect or builder to design and construct a project. 📐

We joined him for a feasibility study in Ellenville, where his client hopes to create more housing on his property, a former bungalow colony.

We're always thrilled to see local entrepreneurs grow their businesses in Kingston!

We first worked with John Perry of Signature Fitness through our Revolving Loan Program. He secured a loan to purchase 33 North Front Street through Rondout Savings Bank, and our funding supplemented his personal investments in order to make the down payment.

Since then, Signature Fitness has grown largely through word of mouth, with a top-notch team of personal trainers. We recently worked with John again to secure a facade loan for the outside of 33 North Front Street. Follow KLDC for updates on the building exterior's transformation!

Façade update: 35 North Front Street is looking refreshed in a rich shade of green 🌿

Uptown Kingston's Stockade District features a striking range of architectural styles, spanning decades and centuries. This building, home to UTOPIA gallery, bookshop and artist studios, was built with 1950s board and batten architecture–a key element of the decade's mid-century modern aesthetic.

While not intentional, the color choice became a nod to the building owner's previous business, Anahata Yoga. Anahata refers to the heart chakra, which is represented by the color green. 💚

Work in Progress 🛠️ Construction continues on our clients' facade renovations at 33 and 35 N Front Street. TJM Construction has been hard at work!

These two buildings were home to London’s Department Store for many years. In March of 1968, the store expanded to add London's Varsity Shop at 31 N Front Street. In the process of renovations, the shop's distinct painted signage was revealed.

For sixteen years, we've offered a low-interest Façade Loan Program to help commercial property owners in Kingston revitalize their buildings. It's exciting to see such striking transformations in action! Visit our website to learn more about this program: https://kldc-ny.org/facade-loan-program/
