In 2021, Circle of Friends for the Dying (CFD) was bequeathed a beautiful house in the Rondout District of Kingston, NY, in Ulster County, to become a dedicated home for the dying. There are over 30 comfort care homes for the dying in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York, some established as early as 1984. As the first of its kind in the Mid-Hudson Valley, Jim & Lisa's Circle Home serves as

a model for the development of other such residences. Circle Home is a hands-on community endeavor reliant on professional staff, trained volunteers, and donors. To that end, our educational outreach has included hosting monthly Death Cafes since 2013, where people can discuss their concerns about our common mortality. Volunteers are the “heart and hands” of this care model. Some volunteers take care of household maintenance and others are trained to provide hands-on care for the residents. We welcome community members to join our various committees, all working together to realize the vision of a society that mindfully accepts death as a part of everyday life, by extending compassionate end-of-life care to those in need. With your support, Circle Home will continue to provide individuals with a safe, comfortable place to receive hospice care and spend their end days in dignity.
