Koko's Village

Koko's Village Koko's Village is in the village of Sitatunga, just outside of Kitale, Kenya. After a short trip to Kenya in 2007, Taryn developed a passion for rural Africa.

In 2009, she went to work for 6 months in a school for full and partial orphans, and children from families in extreme poverty in a village called Sitatuna, 13 miles from Kitale. This was a project started by a man named David Walala with the help of his family. His goal was to educate the most vulnerable children in the village he grew up. Unfortunately, because of lack of funding, the school clo

sed some time ago. It is now the hope of Taryn and David, as well as everyone else passionate about this project, to open the center again to feed the local children and develop a sponsorship program to send the children to public school, furthering their education and providing more opportunities for these children. In Swahili, a popular phrase is "tuko pamoja", meaning "we are together". We all as a global population should come together to provide for the basic needs of rural Kenyan children. 100% of the proceeds earned go to repairing the center, sponsoring children's school fees, purchasing school supplies, digging a well, planting crops, and providing the initial salary of the cook.
