Joseph Francis Riccio, Jr., 12, of Town of Ulster, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at the Albany Medical Center. Joseph was a
high honor and model student at the Miller Middle School where in October, he was named "Student of the Week". A trumphet player for both the school and jazz bands, he was a member of the stage crew for the drama club, the adventure club, builders club, ski club and the art club. He was also a parishoner of Saint Joseph's Parish in Glasco and was a candidate for confirmation. Joseph was the catcher for the Town of Ulster Little League's Cardinals, playing on their 12 year old All-Star Team, played travel baseball with the Hudson Valley Sliders and the Mid Hudson Tigers, played football in the Kingston Area Football League on the Agena's wearing jersey # 92 and also played basketball in the Town of Ulster Biddy League and the Saint Mary's CYO. Joseph was an avid New York Yankees, Pittsburg Steelers fan and Florida State Fan, He loved cooking, meteorology (Doppler Joe) and riding with his dad on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Surviving in addition to his parents, are his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Frances Riccio of Glasco; his maternal grandmother, Anna Crudele of New Windsor; Godmother, Angela Thompson of New Windsor and Godfather, Dennis Kelder of Glasco; many aunts, uncles and cousins also survive. His maternal grandfather, John Crudele died previously. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, November 21, from 3-8 p.m. A Funeral procession will form 8:30 a.m. Saturday November 22, at the Joseph V. Leahy Funeral Home, Inc., 27 Smith Ave., Kingston (www.jvleahyfh.com). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. at Saint Joseph's Church, Glasco.
