Come join us for breakfast at this local, indigenous, woman-owned business located on Main Street in Luzerne. As we sit and talk about current events and the state of things, this is a great time to connect with other members of the LGBTQIA+ community. It's a great time to brainstorm what we need as an organization, while helping to facilitate conversations

Hey NEPA!

We are looking for LGBTQIA+ owned or friendly farms with pick-your-own options and possibly an area for a picnic. Do you know who might fit the bill? Drop your recommendations below, or if you ARE that entity, drop us a PM!

We want to thank AFGE LOCAL 1699 for a wonderful night Thursday at the Drag Benefit!
The entertainers were AMAZING, the food (as always with OTC) was delicious, and the people were true family.

It was a perfect example of how community can mean everything, and that we do not have to go far to find the support that we need.

(These low-light pictures do not begin to do justice to the performances that night!)

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, marks the date in 1865 when Union soldiers showed up in Galveston, Texas, to announce that the Civil War had ended and that all enslaved people were free.

It took over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863.

It took until Dec 6, 1865 to ratify the 13th Amendment to officially abolish slavery nationwide. Following that, the Civil Rights Act of 1866 granted all native-born Americans their citizenship rights, but would take 2 more Amendments (14th & 15th) before voting rights would be established.

The fight wasn't over, over 160 years later we saw the Jim Crow laws put in place to segregate Black Americans and make it nearly impossible to exercise their newly won rights.

Today is a day we remember as the day slavery was struck down in all territories of the United States, but remember that Freedom is a continuous exercise of human rights.
