Helping communities in the Mid-Hudson Region transition to a locally-based, clean energy economy ☀️💚

CLP was founded in early 2013 to oppose the takeover of Central Hudson by Canadian holding company Fortis, Inc. Working with municipalities, elected officials, labor, and individual citizens, CLP won better terms for workers and communities and galvanized interest in strengthening local control over energy decision-making. CLP is currently working on several major projects to transition the Hudson

Valley to a green energy economy and strengthen local energy independence and resilience, including bringing Community Choice Aggregation to New York State, and implementing Empower Kingston-- a green jobs paid training program. It was wonderful to see many of our CLP partners and friends last night at Rough Draft. We are so grateful for the support of our amazing community and look forward to another successful year of our Empower Kingston Program!

Today is the day! A portion of the proceeds at Rough Draft will go to CLP today! Come to Rough Draft tonight from 5pm-7pm to hang with the CLP team and celebrate our amazing Empower Kingston Program.

On Friday we joined Ulster County Executive Jen Metzger, Senator Hinchey, Sarahana For Assembly and fellow advocates to call on Governor Hochul to fully implement the CLCPA. Yesterday CLP joined over 600 advocates in Albany to tell Governor Hochul that we cannot weaken our Climate Law!

Rolling back this landmark law under the guise of affordability is disingenuous when the work being done under this law is already making life more affordable for everyday people.

By investing in renewable energy we reduce emissions, lower energy costs, and create jobs (like the ones our Empower Kingston alumni get in solar, geothermal and HVAC).

The Climate Law is shaping up to be the main fight in the budget which is due April 1st. Call Governor Hochul today and make sure she knows that we can't back down on the Climate Law!
