This is exactly why we do this.

When Debbie and Lindsay agreed to let us share that story, we didn’t know it would land like this. But that’s the thing about Kingsport — when something is real, people feel it.
Neighbors of Kingsport exists for moments like this. To showcase the people and places that make this community worth living in — and make sure their neighbors actually know they’re here.

Driving on Ice in East TN? Read This Before You Hit the Road.

Tri-Cities folks — we may have dodged heavy snow this round, but ice is going to be a real problem the next few days. Most of us already know the basics: drive slower, don’t slam brakes, and that 4WD doesn’t help on ice. So here are five less-obvious, high-impact tips that might actually save your bumper — or your life.

1. Assume Ice Where You Can’t See It
Bridges, shaded curves, and blacktop without salt — treat them all like black ice, even if they look fine. If your steering suddenly feels light, ease off the gas and keep the wheel straight. Wait it out before making any corrections.

2. Use “Feather Inputs” on Pedals
Hard braking or gassing it out of a stop just spins your tires. Instead, apply slow, measured pressure. Tiny, consistent inputs help your tires grip better than pushing too hard.

3. Don’t Steer Too Soon in a Skid
If you start sliding, resist the urge to crank the wheel immediately. Wait until your tires begin to regain forward traction, then correct. Early steering often makes it worse.

4. Pulse Through Ice Patches
Slow down before the slick spot, then gently pulse the throttle to move through. Coasting or gassing straight through can break traction.

5. Use Weight and Momentum to Your Advantage
If your car is front-heavy (like most), remember: forward weight helps you steer, but don’t stop halfway up a hill. Slow, consistent movement is safer than stopping and trying to restart on a slick incline.

Final thought: The ice is worse than it looks. Plan ahead, leave early, and if you can stay off the roads — do. But if you’re out, these five tips might make all the difference.
Feel free to share this post if it helps someone you care about drive safer this week.

They could’ve set up shop anywhere in the Tri-Cities.

But they chose Kingsport.

Right here on Commerce Street, he opened a space that feels different—built with purpose, not pretense.

No neon slogans. No pressure. Just a quiet commitment to the work.

If you’re nearby, go stop in.

See what he’s building. Show him some love for choosing this corner of this special town.

Welcome Tri Star Strength x Rehab

The January Issue Has Landed — and It’s Everything But Ordinary
We’re kicking off 2026 with a cover that speaks volumes. The Lett family reminds us why Neighbors of Kingsport exists in the first place — to tell real stories of connection, commitment, and community.

Many in Kingsport know Frank Lett as the face behind some of our city's most memorable celebrations and tourism milestones through his work at Visit Kingsport. But this month, we’re pulling back the curtain and letting you meet the family behind the public figure — a story that starts with a blind date and ends right here in Kingsport.

Inside the issue, you'll also find:
• A spotlight on local talent quietly making waves
• Events you actually want to show up to (and a few you probably haven’t heard of)
• A business corner rethinking what it means to “shop local”
• And something new we’re trying — a direct result of reader feedback

As always, this issue isn't about names — it's about neighbors.

And if you're a local business owner looking for something more consistent, more community-rooted, and more intentional — our pages are open to you. Not just for ads, but for alignment.
