Sweet treats are nice occasinally.but so much goes into a cake mix. Ingridient wise.....short simple idea if you feel led to put cake mixes in a blessing box put it in a freezer ziplock with a can of coke or sprite. That one can replaces the egg the oil and the butter.

Most schools have started back in the area but remember folks the need is still real I have noticed most blessing boxes in Kingsport are almost empty. If you could help somebody in need that would greatly be appreciated

Some important reminders: please remember that the only food to be left in the boxes needs to be shelf stable. Yes everyone would love it if we could do fresh things and dairy but the reality is some of this stuff sits in 90+ degree heat and spoils the rest of the food in the box. Greek yogurt that had gone bad was found in some boxes a couple of weeks ago. Please also do NOT leave food outside of the boxes either as it attracts bugs🪳, raccoons🦝, other critters and potentially even larger animals in the more rural areas. 🐻

Attention Blessing Box owners! Please read this initiative and let them know if you are willing to put a QR code in your box. This is an amazing way to see all of our boxes mapped out for those that need them.

Project Bless_Me is a service project in development that aims to create a digital database of all the Blessing Boxes our team can map within the region. We are securing permission from Blessing Box locations throughout the region to affix a 2"x2" QR code sticker that includes a URL address and states "For further resources." When individuals walk up to the box and scan the QR code (or type in the URL address), they will then be able to see our web app database of all the Blessing Boxes we have mapped in our region, including Washington, Greene, Sullivan, and Carter counties so far. There will also be a tab for additional resources, such as Second Harvest and clothing closets. We will be generating paper copies of the map that populates within our database and distributing it to receptive locations (such as churches, food pantries, and community service centers).

We humbly request that Blessing Box owners grant us permission to affix the 2"x2" sticker described above to their boxes. We hope that including these locations in Project Bless_Me will make resources more accessible for vulnerable individuals in our region.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Please don't hesitate to reach out to Annie Eum at [email protected] to confirm your participation in this project. Together, I hope we can collaborate to create something innovative, supportive, and necessary for our region.
