We are studying the Samson origin story- starting at Judges 13.
Here’s the key take away:
The chapter starts out with: AND ONCE AGAIN THE ISRAELITES did evil in the sight of the Lord.
Do they not learn?! No. And that’s a human condition as old as time. Do better than the Israelites.
Samson’s mother was barren but she was faithful, obedient, and more yet her faith was such that when an angel of the Lord appeared to her to tell her she could have a child if she followed some simple instructions… she didn’t bother to ask his name, title or where he came from… she knew and believed what he told her. That level of understanding only comes from those faithful in their walk with the Lord. She told her husband about her angel visit and guess what? Her husband went to God in prayer to ask him about it… God sent the angel BACK TO HER when she was alone. She went and got her husband and GUESS WHAT?!
The Bible says Manoah (Samsons daddy) did not know it was an angel of the Lord. 🫣 Brotha. He didn’t believe it until he saw the Angel ascend to heaven with the burnt offering but you know who did know?! His wife. Because girls rule and boys drool.
THEN because Manoah hadn’t been annoying enough this chapter he started to freak out that God was going to kill them because they saw his face…. And OF COURSE, the wife calmed him down and applied rational thought to the situation: if God was going to kill us why would he have made the promise of a child and taken our offering from our hands?!
So what did we learn? Men need women, for all of the above stated reasons 😂 oh, and God is faithful. Always. Obedience makes your life that much easier. See what God can do when you’re obedient?!
You can read Judges 13 for yourself if you don’t like my rendition 😂
