Stop Post Oak Dump

Stop Post Oak Dump We are a group opposed to the proposed landfill in Guadalupe County, Texas. Help us stop it! Please contact your area representatives as soon as possible.

A 400+ acre Class 1 Landfill (It's a "Dump") is proposed to be built on 1200+ acres directly on top of the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer and in the Nash Creek watershed that leads to the Guadalupe River. This potentailly towering smelly landfill (could be over 200 feet tall) and stream of trash trucks will pollute and change Eastern Guadalupe County forever. Please fill your comments with the TCEQ where

the permit application has been filed. Go to: http://www.tceq.texas.gov/about/e-comments.html to submit your written concerns to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Proposed Landfill will be only 20 feet on top of recharge zone of major Texas Aquifer! POCG (Permit Applicant) admitted to the 400 people in attendance at the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality Public Meeting on March 6, 2014 that after the excavation of 40 to 60 feet (the required digging into the earth to expand the area of useable trash disposal space and create a trash ‘basin’ for 125 years of trash disposal) that the bottom of the landfill will be 20 feet from the aquifer. See the Video "Toe Dropping! Media ~Stop The Post Oak Dump 6/17" of TCEQ Public Meeting March 6th starting at the 9:30 (9 minutes and 30 seconds) to watch POCG’s Geologist answer the question. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiNNkvHOWxQ

February 26 2014 – TCEQ Notice of Deficiency Letter to Post Oak Clean Green Inc (POCG)

Over 110 issues for POCG to resolve on permit application parts 3 and 4. AND there are also still significant issues related to application parts 1 and 2. How is this possible since it is technically complete?

Let's pack the house !!!! Your attendance at this meeting is the most important thing you can do to fight the Post Oak Dump in the near term. The number of people attending this meeting will be counted by the TCEQ, so in a way, your attendance is like a vote. There will be a number of public officials at the meeting looking to see who shows up. Remember, most public officials are weighing what side to support.

SAWS to TECQ - Only a Matter of Time Until Water is Pollutted
In a letter to the TCEQ about the proposed site, the San Antonio Water System (SAWS) quotes in bold text from a published paper entitle “Detecting Failure of Subtitle D Landfill Liner Systems“: The liner systems being allowed at best only postpone when groundwater pollution occurs.

In this published paper it also states: It is only a matter of time until those groundwaters are polluted by landfill leachate, rendering them unusable for domestic and many other purposes. This is not a debatable issue.

In the SAWS letter it also states: “The proposed landfill would be constructed on the surface outcrop of the Wilcox Formation, part of the Carrizo and Wilcox Aquifers, which supplies potable water for many cities, residences, and industries in the region. The SAWS Buckhorn well field is located approximately 14 miles south to southeast of the proposed landfill. Regional surface and groundwater flow is generally from northwest to southeast. A catastrophic failure of the landfill system at some point in the future could have a deleterious impact on the well field. Surface drainage from the landfill property could also find its way into stream drainage flowing across the recharge zone of the Carrizo. “ From San Antonio Water System letter to the TCEQ dated March 29, 2012

The SAWS $132 Million Regional Carrizo Project & Buckhorn well field recently received approved permits from the Gonzales County Underground Water Conservation District. This cooperative regional partnership will provide the largest non-Edwards Aquifer water supply in SAWS history.
