Flying Fortress Parkway video update

June 4, 2026

This video takes us from the construction of FFP interchange to White Cliffs Middle School and Desert Willow Elementary School off of Airway. We think it is fitting that the newly named Flying Fortress Parkway will tie into Airway Avenue, another reminder of the local aviation history of Kingman. At Airway Avenue and Bank Street was the location of Port Kingman, Transcontinental Air Transport’s airfield.

❗️New infrastructure fun fact: Flying Fortress Parkway will be constructed of concrete all the way to the Industrial Park. A great decision for long-term infrastructure preservation, especially with all of the tractor-trailer traffic that will follow. Good job City of Kingman! ❗️

Today we were given another piece of Kingman history from a friend of the museum out at Kingman Airport. It is currently a bit of a mystery and we wanted to see if anyone out there can help us solve it.
This is a piece of aluminum, just under 26” long. It appears to be a seat track. The marking appears to be CR8784. We have some guesses, but would like to hear from you if you can identify it, and what type of aircraft it came from. Thank you!

Our community’s connection with the B-17 Flying Fortress is undeniable.

This looks like an excellent documentary to be released this Memorial Day weekend, and we will keep an eye out for it.
