Vision impacts more than what we see. It affects how we learn, work, and move through everyday life. When vision begins to fade, so do opportunities.

Many of the leading causes of vision loss, like cataracts and refractive errors, are treatable. Yet for millions of people, access to simple care remains out of reach. What could be a routine exam or procedure becomes a life-altering barrier.

Restoring sight restores possibility. Share this message to help raise awareness about preventable vision loss and why access to care matters. 💙

Many vision problems start small but can have a big impact if left untreated. Blurry vision, eye strain, or difficulty reading could be early warning signs that your eyes need attention.

Routine eye exams catch these issues early, making treatment easier and more effective. Early detection protects your sight and your quality of life.

Have you had an eye exam recently? Share this post to remind friends and family to check their vision. Small steps today prevent bigger problems tomorrow.

For eight years, Nurat lived with the slow dimming of her world. Once active in her daily life, the 66-year-old retiree from Nigeria began struggling with something many of us rarely think about: simply being able to see clearly. Cataracts gradually clouded her vision, making everyday tasks more difficult and isolating her from the world around her.

Without access to affordable eye care, treatable conditions like cataracts can steal years of independence and opportunity. What could be a routine surgery becomes an impossible barrier for many people in underserved communities.

On February 18, 2026, Nurat received the cataract surgery she needed. Restoring sight means restoring freedom, the ability to move confidently, reconnect with loved ones, and experience the world clearly again. Help us spread awareness by sharing Nurat’s story.

When vision loss goes untreated, the consequences extend far beyond eyesight. What may begin as a manageable condition can gradually affect education, employment, independence, and confidence.

A child who cannot see the board may fall behind in school. An adult with worsening vision may struggle to work or complete everyday tasks. Over time, untreated vision loss can quietly reshape a person’s opportunities and quality of life.

The reality is that many of these conditions are preventable or treatable. When access to basic eye care is available, the trajectory changes. Not just for individuals, but for families and entire communities. Share this post to help raise awareness about the importance of accessible eye care.

Up to 90% of vision loss worldwide is preventable or treatable. Conditions like cataracts and uncorrected refractive errors can often be addressed through routine screenings, timely surgery, or prescription eyewear.

Yet millions continue to live with unnecessary vision loss. Not because treatment doesn’t exist, but because access is out of reach. In many underserved communities, eye care is too expensive, too far away, or simply unavailable.

Restoring sight restores opportunity. When people can see clearly again, they can work, learn, care for their families, and fully participate in their communities. Raising awareness is the first step toward expanding access. Share this post to help more people understand that preventable vision loss is still a global issue.

Most causes of blindness in low-income communities are preventable or treatable. Cataracts, refractive errors, and other common conditions can often be corrected with routine screening and basic surgery.

Yet millions remain without access to care simply because treatment is unaffordable or unavailable.

Your support helps bridge that gap. Every donation enables screenings, surgeries, and prescription eyewear for individuals who would otherwise remain in darkness. It takes $50 - $100 to cure cataracts and $10 to provide eye glasses Donate here:

Low vision and blindness are not the same. Low vision refers to visual impairment that cannot be fully corrected but still allows for some usable sight. Individuals may struggle with reading, driving, or recognizing faces, yet retain partial vision.

Blindness refers to severe vision loss with little to no usable sight. Legal blindness is determined by specific measurements of visual acuity or visual field.

Understanding the difference helps promote accurate awareness and encourages early intervention when vision changes occur.

Low vision can be caused by several common eye conditions, many of which are preventable or treatable with early care.

Cataracts, the leading cause worldwide, occur when the eye’s natural lens becomes cloudy, making vision blurry or dim. Glaucoma damages the optic nerve, often progressing silently until noticeable vision loss occurs. Macular degeneration affects the central part of the retina, reducing sharp, detailed vision needed for reading and recognizing faces.

During Low Vision Awareness Month, we highlight the importance of regular eye exams and early detection. Timely care can protect sight, preserve independence, and prevent avoidable blindness.
