Our recent trip to Elkton Oh and Gettysburg Pa was a good one. I was able to give out several handmade and handwoven coasters. I gave away more than I sold but that’s not a problem , just please look the County Weaver up on Facebook and even more enjoy them daily use. I recommend that you write the year that you received it. They make great gifts for those people who could use them.

This is a Clore rocking chair and is still available.
Some rungs have been replaced and glued again. As you can see it doesn’t have a seat yet. A rush bottom, flat reed in a herringbone weave pattern or a wide binding seat can be woven.

If you are looking for perfection, it’s not here. Each one has its own issues, but this is my best effort. They are woven tight so it will feel like they are sitting on a rock. After being used at the table for a few good meals they will get broken in. The final touch was a coat of amber shellac that will extend the life of the seats.
The type of weave is “fiber rush”.
These will last for another 20+ years. Just keep the cats away.

Well it’s happening at Hornes in Port Royal Va. I dropped off nine 5” handwoven coasters for them to see if anyone is interested in them. The lady who runs the gift shop will be looking for a place to display them for sale. Nothing ventured, nothing lost.

The blanks have been cut and the cork has been attached and pressed into place overnight. The trimming of the cork is the current step. Sanding the edges, drilling the holes and weaving the sides will be the last and final step, or is it? I guess the last step is you placing your coffee mug, big gulp or water bottle on it as you sit in your recliner or on your desk at work.
In 1983 the coasters were 4” wide, now they are 5” wide. Now your big gulp can fit.
The price now is $10 each or for large orders the price drops down to $8 each.
Now people ask how long does it take you to make one…….. well I can’t tell you. But, you or your coworkers or family can enjoy them until the end of time or until the dog chews it up.
These 5” coasters are Made In America by only two hands in King George Va.
