Chartered in Oct 2012, The Rotary Club of King George-Dahlgren uses fundraising efforts and service projects to provide support to local causes important to King George and surrounding communities with a focus on children and education. Then we need you! The King George-Dahlgren Rotary Club would like YOU to join us online at noon Wednesday for a virtual open house. This is the first step on a won

derful new journey towards making a difference in your community. Introduce yourself or your business to fellow community members that have the same inspirations and goals, while learning what Rotary International is and how this organization impacts the King George-Dahlgren’s community. We’d love to have you and your energy. Together we can work together to make OUR community the best it can be. All are encouraged to attend. Beginning on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2021 the King George –Dahlgren Rotary Club will host a Virtual Open House the first Wednesday of the month from 12:00-1:00

Here is another hero, honored by Katie Haywood: "My late husband, Paul, was a Cav Scout in the U.S. Army and served at the end of the Cold War in Bamberg, West Germany in the late 1980s. He quickly achieved the rank of E-6 after joining the Army following college. After his time in the Army he was a civil servant, working for GSA, IRS and the Dept. of Energy (Renewable Resources)."

Thank you to Mike Steele for supporting our Flags for Heroes fundraising event. He honors Darrell Nelson. "Darrell was a United States Navy Veteran and Retiree having served with the USS Coral Sea (CV-43), USS Saratoga (CV-60), USS Kitty Hawk (CV-63), USS Deyo (DD-989), and USS Stump (DD-978). He saw combat action in the Gulf of Sidra and during Operation El Dorado Canyon. His final duty station was Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia aboard the USS Stump (DD-978) where he retired after almost 22 years of dedicated service. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4411 in Franklin, Virginia where he served as the Jr Vice Commander. He later went on to work for several government contractors continuing his service to our great country and fellow Armed Forces members ensuring the safety and ability to return home to loved ones. He taught and mentored young hunters through volunteering as an instructor for the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources Basic Hunting Education Classes."

Thank you, Mike Steele for remembering your hero. He shared "Herbert Moore was a Lt. Colonel in the US Army and fought in World War II, the Korean War, and even did a couple of tours in Vietnam. He was a true patriot, husband, and father who loved his country."
