I have been a small business owner for the last 12 years. During this time, I have experienced the government shutdowns, government sequester, the Covid pandemic, the "Summer of Love" riots during which we were threatened five times with a group wanting to burn the mansion down. I have experienced the cost of doing business rise including the cost of food for our breakfasts. Taxes have gone up for small businesses. The minimum wage for a part time staff member has gone up.
People are not spending money like they did before. If we get a room, we don't get a dinner option. Our rooms are down, and our extras are below the water line. Special Events have been helpful, but the cost to do them have gone up as well. What we hope would be a special event to help us catch up on bills, only ends up costing us to more to hold.
With all this, add in my Long Covid issues. There is no wonder that I am suffering from depression so often.
It has become a day in, and day out fight to manage what we have and the stretch our dollars until they scream. Frankly, I don't know how we have made it this far. But things are getting to a point where, we might have to stop doing things for a while. Not because we want to, but because we have to.
I try not asking for donations because I know others are fighting just as hard to put gas in their tanks or to pay mortgages or rent. Even trying to creatively feed a family. It's just hard out there right now.
I need a favor from you.
