The Committee organized to recall King City councilors condemns recent vandalism of King City signs with an apparent demand to fire City Manager Mike Weston. The rhetoric and accusations by Mayor Fender in her post-election statement and the reprehensible social media remarks by her husband are just as damaging and could potentially lead to an escalation of this type of behavior. These comments are not consistent with Mayor's Fenders message of reunification and working together. We are committed to re-establishing positive, respectful and active dialogue and participation with all citizens of King City.

Less than 1 week! Turn in those ballots!

We received this in an email and thought it was important to share-

“I wasn’t sure who to believe in the recall but then I checked the PACs on Orestar and saw that the Vote No group put their campaign manager in their mailer posing as a local small business owner and she doesn’t even live in King City. It makes me seriously question how many of their other facts are in FACT, lies. I’ll be voting Yes in this recall and will encourage my fellow King City residents to do so too.”

The Fischer Road extension is projected to have 8,600 cars a day!
- Why would anyone approve a plan that allows a regionally significant collector through our neighborhoods?!
- Worse yet, City Council removed protections that were in the Comprehensive Plan in order to allow this to happen.
- This is not just about ‘one vote’ – this is about the future of our community.
- We need leadership that has the courage to reject bad development proposals.
- We need leadership we can count on, before it is too late.

Typical political campaign stunt using “your taxes will go up” and “your services will be cut”. This lack of integrity running their campaign is a direct reflection of how this council operates.

They say radical? THIS is Radical

- Approving a thoroughfare through a nature preserve and wildlife corridor.
- Approving a plan for regional traffic to cut through our community.
- Breaking a promise. When Edgewater was developed, it stated that any future
extension of Fischer Road to the West was to remain local in character. The city council
removed this protection.
- Adopting a plan despite overwhelming community opposition.
- Revoking the recall petitions without the authority to do so, then refusing to comply
with the Secretary of State’s order to rescind the revocation. Interfering with the
democratic process cost King City close to $50,000 (as per King City Manager).
- Approving contract amendments for the City Manager, Police Chief, and Lieutenant
after acknowledging they may not be in the best interest of the city.
- Failing to follow the rules established for their own city, including the process to fill a
city council vacancy in an attempt to hurry the appointment before the recall date.

This City Council cannot be trusted to more than double the size of King City.
- They don’t even follow their own city Municipal Codes.
- Four city councilors are under investigation by the Oregon Government Ethics
Commission (OGEC).
- Regional transportation seems to be a higher priority than the safety of our city.

Why is this planned road a problem?

The planned road is being described by the city as a regionally significant collector road. It crosses the Bankston Nature Preserve (protected by a conservation easement held by Columbia Land Trust) and is in close proximity to the Tualatin River which will negatively impact wildlife and the natural environment.

The direct connection between Roy Rogers and 99W will provide a route for cut through traffic. The City Manager estimates 40% of the traffic on this planned route will be cut through traffic. The city’s consultants also project an average of 8,600 vehicles per day west of 131st and 12,900 east of 131st on this planned route (projections are for the year 2040). For a comparison, the Washington County 2022 traffic count for Beef Bend Road at 119th Avenue measured 9,476 vehicles.
