Kindred Fire has several Nationally Certified deployable wildland firefighters. They travel all over to assist other agencies with wildfires! We thank you.
What does it mean to be a wildland firefighter?
It means missing birthdays, holidays, and summer weekends because the fire season doesn’t stop for real life.
It means sleeping in the dirt, breathing smoke for weeks at a time, and waking up before sunrise to do it all again.
It means hiking into places most people would turn around from, carrying heavy gear through steep terrain and heat that can feel unbearable.
It means protecting homes you’ve never seen before and communities you may never visit again.
It means trusting the people beside you with your life.
It means hearing chainsaws, radios, helicopters, and trees coming down for months straight. Then going home and trying to adjust back to normal life like nothing happened.
It means pride. Exhaustion. Sacrifice. Camaraderie. Service.
And for many wildland firefighters and their families, it also means carrying burdens most people never see.
To the men and women out there on the line: we see you, we appreciate you, and we will continue doing everything we can to support you and your families.
