The blues world is staying busy this summer, and there’s a lot to be excited about.
At 89 years old, Buddy Guy continues proving why he’s one of the greatest living blues legends. After taking home another Grammy earlier this year, he remains a direct connection to the golden age of Chicago blues, having influenced everyone from Eric Clapton to Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Meanwhile, Tedeschi Trucks Band continues drawing praise for blending blues, soul, gospel, and southern rock into something uniquely powerful. Their live shows remain some of the hottest tickets in roots music.
Modern blues stars are keeping the genre moving forward. Samantha Fish keeps pushing boundaries with her fierce guitar work and genre-bending sound, while Christone ‘Kingfish’ Ingram continues carrying the torch for the next generation with jaw-dropping performances rooted in Delta tradition and modern blues-rock energy.
One trend promoters are noticing in 2026: fans are showing up for authentic live music experiences. Blues audiences are responding especially well to shows pairing national touring artists with strong local openers—helping build community while introducing audiences to new talent.
That’s something we believe in deeply here at the Southern Idaho Blues Society. The blues isn’t just history—it’s alive right now, on stages big and small, from Chicago to Twin Falls.
Every jam, every concert, and every packed room helps keep this music alive.
