Mark your calendars! This will be a great chance to learn directly from Republican Senator Jim Guthrie and Democratic Senator James Ruchti about how our state legislature functions. Civic education matters, and so does understanding the importance of Republicans and Democrats working together to solve problems and serve our communities. This is a great opportunity to hear directly from local legislators and learn more about the process.

We are so excited to announce our next event!

Senators Jim Guthrie and James Ruchti will be presenting an overview of the workings of our State Legislature -- How is a bill drafted and become law? How do committees play a part in this process? How do the House and the Senate cooperate to legislate? These two seasoned legislators will teach us how our state legislature functions. There will be time for questions following their presentation.

Consistent with our mission statement to "educate Idahoans in civic responsibility", this evening promises to be an opportunity of learning and growth.

Justice Sandra Day O'Conner noted that democracy is not "passed down through the gene pool." Rather, "it must be taught and learned anew by each generation."

Religious freedom is a foundational right—but in today’s policy landscape, it can also raise complex, real-world questions. This conversation moves beyond slogans to explore how religious liberty operates in practice across Idaho’s communities, schools, workplaces, and public institutions. We’ll examine where protections are working, where tensions arise, and how thoughtful policy can uphold both individual freedom and the shared good. Designed for citizens, leaders, and stakeholders alike, this discussion aims to bring clarity, civility, and practical insight to one of Idaho’s most important principles.

- Senior District Judge B. Lynn Winmill

Worth the read. Transparency matters, especially when it comes to outside money influencing Idaho elections. Idaho voters deserve to know who’s backing their candidates.

A successful government isn’t a red or blue issue, it’s a people issue.

Representative Berch (LD15) makes a powerful point about the Idaho State Police budget, which is a testament to the many budgets from this Legislative Session: smart budgeting doesn’t have to come at the cost of people’s pay, jobs, or safety.

Both sides of the aisle have a role to play in getting this right. We need good leadership in the Idaho Legislature, most districts are decided in the Primary. May 19th, make your voice heard!

Not every ‘tough on immigration’ bill is actually tough. Some are just bad policy wrapped in good slogans.

Representative Furniss said NO to House Bills 700, 704, and 660, for a reason.

Because when laws are written poorly, legal workers lose jobs, and nothing gets fixed.

It takes real courage to stand against something that sounds good but does real damage.
