Vermont Adaptive Charity Challenge

Vermont Adaptive Charity Challenge The Vermont Adaptive Charity Challenge is an event to raise money for year-round adaptive sports. Every Penny Counts!

The Vermont Adaptive Charity Challenge is an annual event to enjoy the beauty of Vermont through cycling and mountain biking all while raising funds for the state’s largest nonprofit organization committed to providing sports and recreation to people with disabilities. Due to the global Coronavirus pandemic, the event was virtual in 2020 and will be again in 2021. There are even more ways to parti

cipate virtually in 2021: ride, stationary bike, run, walk, roll, do exercise classes, horseback ride, and more. Participate anytime and anywhere...from the safety of your own home or neighborhood. Money raised will be donated to Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, the largest non-profit organization of its kind in Vermont to offer state-wide year-round sports and recreation to people with disabilities. DID YOU KNOW?
• Vermont Adaptive provides more than 3,000 outings a year to people with disabilities.
• The cost of one outing for the consumer can range from a mere $35 for a two-hour canoeing session to $140 for a full day ski lesson, including instructors, ticket and adaptive equipment.
• All of the school and advocacy groups Vermont Adaptive works with are also subsidized and participants receive the same one on one experience as any individual who participates.
• The average true expense of a lesson or outing to the organization is more than $120.00 per individual per outing per activity.
• There is more than $50,000 worth of adaptive sports gear Vermont Adaptive wants to buy on its Wishlist.

Dear Friends,

After a successful 13-year run, Vermont Adaptive has made the decision to retire the annual Charity Challenge held in June. We are grateful to YOU and so many other people, businesses, sponsors, participants, and donors for taking this small idea back in 2011 from Lookout Tavern owner Phil Black, and turning it into something very special.

This was a hard decision to make, but we know that it was the right one for many reasons - and we’ll be “retiring” the event on a successful 13th year! While we won’t be replacing this event with another one, keep an eye out for new and different ways that this incredible community will be able to come together, socialize, celebrate and support Vermont Adaptive.

Thank you again for believing in our mission and ensuring that outdoor sports and recreation is for everyBODY.

From all of us at Vermont Adaptive, thank you for being a part of the community! If you don’t receive our Vermont Adaptive newsletter, please consider signing up to stay in the know for future news and events. You can sign up at the bottom of our home page at www.vermontadaptive.org.

Cheers,
Erin, Kim, Lexi, Jeff and the Vermont Adaptive Staff

Our Story

The Vermont Adaptive Charity Ride (formerly known as the Long Trail Century Ride to benefit Vermont Adaptive), is an event established through a partnership of Long Trail Brewery, Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports, Killington Resort, the Lookout Tavern, and many local businesses in the Killington region. The goal of the annual charity event is to enjoy the beauty of Vermont through cycling all while raising funds for the state's largest nonprofit organization committed to providing sports and recreation to people with disabilities.

Whether cycling on the 100, 60, 40 or 20 mile loops, enjoying the 5k family bike ride or the mountain bike session at Killington, there is something for everyone to enjoy during the Vermont Adaptive Charity Ride. All courses start and finish together at Long Trail Brewery, located on Route 4. The festivities continue for all after the ride at the brewery, where a full-dinner BBQ, live music and entertainment, refreshments, and more will round out the day’s events.
