An extremely rare 1832 Charleston SC slave tag. These were worn around the neck of a slave who was being rented/loaned to another plantation in order to keep track of who the owner was, along with other relevant information, hence the serial number. Each tag was stamped with a trade that the slave had skill in. The slave that wore this particular tag had experience as a mechanic, and was likely quite expensive. Such a sad piece of history, but a piece of history nonetheless. This one was dug by my friend Harley

This Barber Quarter was minted 125 years ago and was recently discovered by our team while searching a job site near Sunset Harbor in Brunswick County, North Carolina. Although its historical significance may be modest, it remains a beautiful silver coin that has endured over a century, much of it spent beneath the ground.
