This week, one of our clients gave our staff this beautiful note of appreciation. It was a reminder of why we do what we do.

The work isn’t always easy, but knowing that someone felt seen, supported, and cared for during one of the hardest times in their life makes it all worthwhile.

Every phone call, every conversation, every act of support matters. We may not always know the impact we have, but moments like this remind us that showing up for people can make all the difference.

One person. One family. One life at a time. 💜

Today, the staff at Families in Crisis, Inc. proudly wore denim in recognition of Denim Day — a global movement that raises awareness about sexual violence, victim blaming, and the importance of supporting survivors.

Denim Day began as a response to harmful myths surrounding sexual assault and serves as a powerful reminder that clothing is never consent. What someone wears does not justify violence or shift responsibility away from the person who caused harm.

By wearing denim, we stand together to honor survivors, promote education, and encourage conversations that challenge stigma and support healing. Awareness creates change — and together, we can build safer communities where survivors are believed, supported, and empowered.

If you or someone you know needs support, Families in Crisis, Inc. is here to help.

💜 A heartfelt THANK YOU to the incredible JROTC students at Ellison High School for choosing to give back through thoughtful donation drives and meaningful community service at our Friends in Crisis Homeless Shelter.

Teaching our youth the importance of giving back and helping others is powerful. When young people learn the value of compassion, service, and community involvement, they grow into leaders who understand the impact of kindness and support. These students are setting an example of what it means to care for others and strengthen the community around them.

We are grateful for their willingness to step up, serve, and make a difference in the lives of individuals experiencing homelessness. Your efforts remind us that small acts of service can create lasting change.

Interested in donating or giving back to Families in Crisis? Contact our Director of Volunteers to learn how you can support our mission and make an impact in our community. 💜

Abuse can take many forms, including emotional, financial, digital, and psychological — all rooted in patterns of power and control. Increasing awareness of these behaviors is essential to breaking stigma and supporting survivors.

By expanding our understanding of what abuse can look like and what healthy relationships should feel like, we can better support individuals and create safer communities.

This past Saturday, April 18th, Families in Crisis, Inc. had the opportunity to attend the Child Abuse Awareness Fair hosted by Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas in recognition of Child Abuse Awareness & Prevention Month.

Our team was proud to set up a resource table and connect with community members, families, and partners—sharing information about the services we provide to support survivors of abuse. From crisis intervention to advocacy and prevention education, these moments of connection matter.

Events like this remind us that awareness is just the beginning. It takes a community to protect, support, and uplift our children. 💙

Thank you to the Children's Advocacy Center of Central Texas for creating a space to educate, empower, and bring our community together for such an important cause.

If you or someone you know needs support, Families in Crisis, Inc. is here 24/7. You are not alone.

It was a honor to be recognized today for all our hard work and dedication.
