Tonight’s episode of 8 Tracks and 45s opens with a duo whose sound helped define the gentle glow of the soft‑rock era: Seals and Crofts. Dan Hull sets the mood with their uplifting 1973 classic, “We May Never Pass This Way (Again),” a track that showcases everything that made the pair unforgettable — graceful harmonies, thoughtful songwriting, and a hopeful spirit that still rings true more than fifty years later.

Few moments are as peaceful as watching a Central Texas sunrise shimmer across the water — and on Friday, June 26, Belton Parks & Recreation is inviting residents to experience that beauty firsthand. The department will host Sunrise Kayaking: Paddle the Leon River, an early‑morning group paddle created to help participants begin their day with calm, connection, and a front‑row view of nature’s quietest hour.

A Heat Advisory will be in effect this afternoon for all of North and Central Texas. Heat index values will climb between 105 and 110 degrees, creating dangerous conditions for anyone spending extended time outdoors. Stay hydrated, wear lightweight and loose‑fitting clothing, and keep strenuous activities limited to the early morning or evening hours.

Storm chances will begin to increase late in the day as a cold front approaches the region. Strong, gusty winds, frequent lightning, and heavy downpours will all be possible from late Thursday into Friday.

A few lingering showers or storms may hang around on Saturday, but the heat won’t let up. The hottest stretch arrives Sunday and Monday, with highs pushing into the mid to upper 90s and heat index values again reaching 105 to 110 degrees.

After mainly dry conditions on Sunday, isolated to scattered storms may return Monday and Tuesday, mainly for areas north of I‑20.

Beginning June 19 and continuing nightly through July 6, APD will conduct an expanded DWI Enforcement and No Refusal Initiative. Additional officers will be deployed across Austin’s streets, highways, and waterways, focusing on traffic stops, impaired‑driving detection, and proactive safety enforcement. The goal is simple: ensure that every resident and visitor has a safe way home during one of the most festive — and historically dangerous — times of the year.
