Educated Angeles is a group of community partners who desire to give back to children and young adults in the Central Texas area through mentoring, scholarships, and community events. We strive to help those in need, those with a disability, and those who want to improve not only themselves, but to contribute to our local community in a positive way. MAKE IT WORK ~ Make it Work (MiW) was developed
in 2013 as an Internship Program for future educators. MiW allows local high school and college students to gain experience during our summer educational camps. Interns receive firsthand experience with teaching, lesson planning, progress reports and parent communication. MiW holds a Scholarship Gala each spring to honor the recipients. The Gala brings together several businesses, educators and government officials. MiW will award one of its scholarships in honor of C Zach to an Intern who is interested in pursuing Special Education. C Zachary Sheppard Memorial Scholarship Fund ~ The C Zach Sheppard Foundation was formed January 2016 with the untimely passing of one of MTM’s own. The Foundation was initiated to inspire youth in our community to follow their dreams, TRY with all their might and succeed; just as C Zach did. The Foundation will focus on areas that influenced C Zach the most. Students from Harker Heights HS Bowling Team will receive a scholarship to the college of their choosing based on criteria established. This scholarship will be offered to all Bowling Teams in the area. We will also support the KISD Special Olympics Teams to offset expenses. C Zach participated in the Stars of Tomorrow bowling league at Hallmark Lanes in Killeen. We have partnered with the league to hold a benefit tournament in C Zach’s honor. In addition, Harker Heights SUPER HEROES Adaptive Sports program will receive a sponsorship for their summer bowling league. A scholarship is awarded through KISD Education Foundation to a student who has volunteered with special needs students or with Special Olympics. KISD HARP & Students in Need ~ Educated Angels supports KISD HARP with three specific projects in an effort to build awareness for the program. Since 2013, we have collected school supplies and backpacks which we present at our annual Back 2 School Bash held in August. The Bash allows youth groups and organizations the opportunity to enjoy a day of fundraising and performing. We have presented truckloads of supplies and backpacks to support the more than 1000 homeless students in KISD. We have collected canned goods and clothing for their pantry & closet. We partner with area businesses and organizations to provide prom dresses, senior pictures and senior baskets.
