Final Update for Jane: Between the hours of 12:30AM and 8:30 AM of 19 OCT, Jane was struck and killed on I-35 near the entrance of the same rest stop she got loose from. She was on the run for 15 days.
We won't go into details on this post, but we will publish a case study on our website for all who would like to know what went down-day by day. There is a lot of work that goes into a rescue operation next the busiest highway in the state. What we will get into here is that for 15 days we threw everything we possibly could at this case.
Between the landowner research/coordination, drone flights, camera placement, traps, and even tracking dogs...we gave it everything we had. We had a ton of support from locals and people from all over and we truly appreciate you all for thinking about Jane and doing what you could for her.
There were only a few days out of those 15 we didn't have eyes on Jane. We knew where she was and she knew when we would be by to drop food off to her. After we studied her, it was clear she had been through something so tragic that the only way to get her was through patience and trust. We were so close towards the end (literally two feet), but God had different plans for this sweet girl.
Thank you to Healing Heart Rehab, Ghosts Mission Rescue, and Amy Lessmann (and Cleo!), for your tireless support and efforts. For those last few days, Jane felt love and patience, and she got to eat some great food the last night she was on this earth with us.
Thank you Paws in Paradise for responding so quickly and putting Jane to rest, the way she deserved. Please say a prayer for the owners who are going through this time.
