The Outer Banks Chorus is a non-auditioned community choir comprised of singers from the Outer Banks region of North Carolina. Members include high school and college students, doctors, homemakers, teachers, business owners, and retirees. The group performs sacred and secular music from the Renaissance era through new music by 21st Century composers. The ensemble meets Tuesday nights at Kitty Hawk

United Methodist Church from 5:30-7:30. We accept new members when we begin in September and again when we reconvene in January. The Outer Banks Chorus is under the director of Kyle Cook and is accompanied by Cheryl Needham. If you are interested in joining, please contact our Director via email -- [email protected].

The Outer Banks Chorus would like to congratulate our 2026 scholarship recipient, Anya Preston!

Anya is a graduating senior from First Flight High School, a 4 year Chorus member, and currently serves as senior Chorus president. She also interns as a teacher’s assistant for the First Flight Middle School Chorus and has directed the FFMS Chorus during performances.

Anya has been a 4 year member of StageKraft Productions at FFHS and recently played the roll of “Velma” in the school’s production of CHICAGO this Spring.

In addition to her academic career, Anya has taught beginner piano for children aged 6 to 11 at the Ascension Music Academy for the past 2 years.

Anya will be attending UNC-Wilmington in the fall as a music major with plans to open a music school and teach music and vocals.

Congratulations, Anya! From all of us in the OBX Chorus, we wish you the best of luck in your bright future ahead!

At our holiday concerts, we proudly announced that our Director, Kyle Cook, had been named a National Semi-Finalist for the Country Music Association Foundation’s prestigious Music Teachers of Excellence Award.

Today, we are thrilled to share that Kyle has officially been named a RECIPIENT of this national honor! ⭐️

🎭✨Meet Our Narrator for “REGARDS TO BROADWAY!" ✨🎭

The Outer Banks Chorus is excited to welcome the incredibly talented Matt Webster as our guest narrator for this weekend’s concert!

You can see Matt as well as the entire Outer Banks Chorus in concert on Friday at 8 PM and Saturday at 4 PM at St. Andrew's By-the-Sea in Nags Head, NC.

You can learn a little about Matt below:

Matt Webster is an award-winning writer, performer, and producer. Matt made his Broadway debut at the Hudson Theatre in DGF Toasts: Stephen Schwartz. In addition to performing in the show, Matt wrote the vocal arrangements. Some of his other favorite performance credits include Glad Hand in the Broadway Tour of West Side Story; Johnny Pope in A Hatful of Rain (BroadwayWorld – Best Actor Award Winner); and Derek in the award-winning, world premiere production of his original play BACK. As a writer, Matt’s plays and musicals have been produced Off-Broadway, regionally, and internationally, and have been published with Concord Theatricals and Theatrical Rights Worldwide. Select writing credits include: Love Somebody Now (with Tony and Grammy Nominated composer, Andrew Lippa) – the original cast album, featuring some of Broadway’s biggest stars, is now available wherever you get your music; BACK(Best Play Award, Lotus Lee), Kingdom Come (winner Best Musical at the Downtown Urban Theatre Fest), Jay and the Contest (winner Risk Theatre Playwriting Award), Reveries, Fat Man’s, and Alex Fox: American Hero. With his frequent collaborator Taylor Ferrera, Matt has co-written: Cinderella; Democracy, Day 1; County Fair – A Country Hits Musical; Tessa Takes a Turn; Betty Zane; Purgastory; and Propaganda! The Musical (Webby Award Winner for Best Podcast Writing), which during the pandemic was released as a full podcast musical, featuring a complete orchestra and a cast filled with Broadway stars. Matt is the Creative Director of Andrew Lippa’s production company, Made Up World, is a founding member of the Magic Forest Theatre Company, and was the Resident Writer at The New York Film Academy for over six years, where he wrote and produced 11 short films. Matt is a proud Appalachian writer, a Johnny Mercer Award Winner, the 2023/2024 Abingdon Theatre Company’s Artist in Residence, and was named the 2024 Honored Playwright at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City.

What’s a Broadway concert without a few show-stopping soloists?!

We’re thrilled to spotlight the incredible voices stepping into the spotlight for “Regards to Broadway!” From heartfelt ballads to powerhouse anthems, these featured soloists are ready to bring the magic of the stage to life.

Performances are Friday, May 8 at 7 PM and Saturday, May 9 at 4 PM. Both performances are at St. Andrew’s By-the-Sea in Nags Head. Admission by donation!
