🇺🇸 Haleakala Chapter NSDAR Honors Outstanding Baldwin High School JROTC Cadet 🇺🇸

On April 23, members of the Haleakala Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, attended the Baldwin High School JROTC Awards Ceremony to recognize an exceptional young leader.

Haleakala Chapter Regent Barbara Kenrich, Hawaii State Chair of the Service for Veterans Committee Deborah Williams, and Haleakala Chapter Registrar Liz Ohta presented the DAR JROTC Medal and Certificate to Cadet Merika Carino, the female recipient of this prestigious award.

The DAR JROTC Medal Program honors cadets who demonstrate outstanding leadership, dependability, patriotism, and good citizenship. Cadet Carino’s achievements and dedication to the ideals of the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps reflect these values.

The Haleakala Chapter is proud to support and recognize young Americans who exemplify leadership, service, and citizenship. Congratulations to Cadet Merika Carino and all of the Baldwin High School JROTC cadets for their accomplishments!

Haleakala Chapter has sponsored four Little Free Libraries to help promote literacy throughout our island. Today I cleaned and replenished our red Little Free Library at Ka Hale a Ka Ole. Our Chapter occasionally fills the with Caldecott Award winning picture books. These books are identifiable because they have a golden Caldecott award sticker on the front of each book sold.

We wanted to share some photos from the Makawao Memorial Day Service. This year, NVMC Board Member and "Service Above Service" award recipient Cummins Bo Mahoe was the keynote speaker, giving a very personal, moving and inspirational address on Monday. It was an extremely special morning of honor and remembrance that will continue to live in our hearts.

Ahead of Memorial Day, America250 EVP Jen Condon joined With Honor and members of the For Country Caucus to wash the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.

We were honored to stand alongside Congressman Mike Thompson, a Vietnam veteran, as well as Representatives Pat Harrigan, Maggie Goodlander, John McGuire, Jim Baird, and many other members of Congress for this morning of service.
As everyone is coming together to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice, we are reminded of the courage that has shaped our nation. 🇺🇸
