Since its beginning, BOEC has relied upon the passion, expertise, and dedication of our Board of Trustees. Each Board Member makes BOEC a special place, but this month we had the privilege to feature Board Member, John Buhler in our Inspirations E-Newsletter

From working as a ski instructor at Breckenridge Resort to becoming Breck’s Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, John brings an incredible wealth of experience and knowledge to our Board. But it's John’s heart for the mission of BOEC that is above and beyond! John says, “The BOEC has not only succeeded but thrived. I am proud to be a part of the BOEC and feel confident that it will continue to bring joy to all that experience it now and into the future.”

Thank you to John and his family for their support of not only BOEC but the wider Breckenridge community.

A new month means a new Inspiration E-Newsletter from BOEC! This month highlights the many people who have not only made this ski and snowboard season possible in our Winter Season Wrap-Up article, but those who have supported BOEC for many years including our "Donor Spotlight" - IFurnish and "People Who Make BOEC Special" - BOEC Board Member John Buhler!

We also want to make sure our newsletter is meeting the needs of our readers, so we’ve created a short survey to gather feedback about the newsletter from our readers. To take the survey, go to https://buff.ly/3pmXbhI. Thanks for your input!

The snow may be quickly melting away here in Breckenridge, but we still want to share some of our favorite memories from the winter!

Near the end of the season, Ellie, Hallie, and Zoey, three incredible girls with Rett Syndrome, came to with their lovely families to spend two days of adaptive skiing with BOEC. This trip was so memorable because it was the first time two of the three families all got to ski together as a family! At BOEC, we love it when parents, siblings, caretakers, and friends join our participants on the slopes because the more the merrier in creating an inclusive outdoor community!

Also, in case you were wondering what Rett Syndrome is, it is a rare neurological disorder diagnosed almost exclusively in females. To learn more about Rett Syndrome and the resources available check out and

Thank you also to for organizing this wonderful adaptive ski adventure!

So much of BOEC’s work in creating a more equitable outdoor community come down to the generous support of our donors, and in April’s Inspirations E-Newsletter, we had the privilege of spotlighting the Donna and Brian Gammenthaler.

Hailing from Texas, but skiing at Breckenridge Ski Resort each winter, the Gammenthaler’s began skiing with the BOEC because their grandson has a disability that affects his mobility. Not only does the Gammenthaler family participate in BOEC’s adaptive ski and snowboard program, but they are also monthly donors to BOEC.

As Brian and Donna Gammenthaler explain, “While giving at any time is great, we think consistency in giving helps to give BOEC the ability to plan and strategize programs for their clients.” If you are interested in learning more about becoming an month donor to BOEC or the Gammenthaler’s story, check out the link below!

We often say that we could not do what we do without the generous support of so many loyal and generous donors who have supported us throughout our 47-year history. Our 2021-22 Annual Report highlights the contributions of over 600 individual donors and we are immensely grateful for all those who ch...

BOEC’s celebrations of this winter season came to a close this past weekend with our Intern Graduation!

At the end of each summer and winter internship, BOEC holds a “graduation” for the intern class to celebrate and recognize the incredible work each intern has done over the season. And no graduation is complete without caps and “paper plate” awards!

We cannot say thank you enough to this incredible group of 15 people who came from all over the US and the world to serve, learn, and experience the joy of the slopes. Each intern made such a significant impact on the lives of our participants, staff, and volunteers. We are so grateful for each of you and excited to see what adventures lie ahead!

So give a big cheers to the BOEC Winter Interns of 2022-2023!
