Happy 15th Birthday to SONS OF SERVICE, USA, NFP!! Today we celebrated 15 years of being a Club. We sprang from an idea in a garage with a handful of bikers who wanted to make an impact in their Community. That first official meeting was in April 2011.

Today, Our Founder and Original members were proud and happy to see how The SONS have far exceeded their hopes and dreams and grown, thrived and helped so many.

Pictured in center is "Big D" our Founder and Original President. To his right is "Pappy" also an Original Member and our 2nd President who succeeded Big D. On the left is "Gunner", our current President.
It was a day for us to celebrate together and have some fun as a Family.

We are very grateful for our Friends and Supporters and look forward to 2026 being another fun and successful year!

This past Sunday, March 22nd, several of the Sons members attended the Annual Memorial Dedication and Blessing of the Bikes at the Biker Memorial in Roxanna Park. It was an absolutely beautiful day, and was attended by over 800 people with 570 bikes riding in!!

For those who don't know what this is about, here is a quick rundown.:
The Park has a dedicated space for Memorial Bricks for riders who have been lost. There are many Motorcycle Clubs and Riding Clubs with their own sections. Each club has a central area with their logo or "colors" surrounded by bricks engraved with the names of their lost Brothers. There is also an area for un-affiliated Bikers with memorial bricks.

This entire project is managed and sponsored by a Biker Memorial Club that holds monthly meetings, gathers the names of the fallen, orders and places the bricks, and coordinates this annual event. Well done to the Brothers and Sisters who do this!!

The ceremony itself includes presentations of the colors of the military services, the pledge of allegiance, lowering the American Flag to half-staff, prayers by a rep from Christian Motorcycle Association. This is followed by the solemn reading of the names of Brothers who passed represented by the latest memorial bricks, with ringing of a bell. Also there is were singers and a guest speaker.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of all of this, is it is a time to see the true Brotherhood and Sisterhood of the Biker Community. This is a time when MCs, RCs, and Independent Bikers ALL come together while proudly flying their colors on their cuts, but in respect and peace, together as ONE.

Also check out Red Heels On Wheelz for pics and video by their crew!
We are honored to be al part of the Biker Community.

On Friday, several of the Sons Of Service participated in the Drive-By Birthday Parade celebrating the 102nd Birthday of Vince Rolves! Vince was named several years ago as an Honorary Member of Sons Of Service. His life story, as one of the last remaining WW2 POWs, is an inspiration to Our Club.

It was heartening to see the line of vehicles driving by and honking to honor Mr Rolves. News reporters from local newspapers in Carlyle and Breese were also there to document the day.

The Sons brought up the rear of the parade on our motorcycles, and stopped by to personally wish Vince our Birthday Blessings. We gave him a BDay card, and some Sons Swag: a nylon drawstring bag, a Sons sticker for his powerchair and a Sons Poker chip.

Thank-you to his caregiver, Donna, for having Vince outside on such a beautiful day and all the joy she brings while caring for Vince.

Happy 102nd Birthday, Brother Vince!!
Much love and respect and continued Blessings to Vince!

Thursday evening, our President-Gunner and Founder/Past President-Big D, presented the Aaron Hurst Foundation with a check for the dinner and Veterans Hunt they are sponsoring Friday Dec 12th.
In all, 29 Veterans showed up to hunt.
It’s good to help people before a desperate need with something that brings them together for a common shared bond. Aaron Hurst Foundation is local, helps children and Veterans learn about and enjoy the great outdoors.
They were grateful for our donation, and we are honored to be able to help. Thank you to Our Supporters who donate to enable us to help others!

Veterans Day-2025:
- Big D, our Founder, (and 1st President), opened the Clubhouse on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month as has been his tradition. It's a day for other Veterans in the Club to stop by for camaraderie and chat about their experiences and impacts as Veterans
-Gunner, our President along with Sarge, our Secretary went to 3 Extended Care Facilities in Vandalia to personally meet, greet and thank a total of 17 Veterans for their service. And to present each of those Veterans a metal door plaque to honor their service to Our Country.
-Sandman, our Business Manager, accepted an invitation to attend a Veterans ceremony at Greenville Nursing and Rehab Center to honor their 7 residents who are Veterans. Each was presented with certificates and gifts from Vitas Healthcare and the facility Staff, as well as a door plaque from the Sons Of Service.
-In the evening, these Club Officers were joined by a few other Veterans, including Hot Shot & Doc, at the clubhouse to be together as "Vets".
Background:
-At last month's Club meeting, the Sons had decided to honor area Veterans who are often unable to attend Veteran Day events and thus, whose service is sometimes not celebrated.
-Chumley was able to obtain the metal plaques for their doors as a way to acknowledge their service. The Veterans we met with, appreciated being recognized, and enjoyed chatting about their times in Service.

We are honored to have served, and humbled by the recognition and appreciation shown to us: we wanted to show our appreciation to some older Veterans to show that their service is also remembered.
