Meet Leah, our new Aquaculture Technician at the Coral Farm in Tampa Bay! Leah holds a B.S. in Marine Biology from USF and brings hands-on coral experience from internships at the Whale Shark Oceanic Research Center and The Florida Aquarium. She’s skilled in scientific diving, coral restoration, and research, with a published review paper in Diversity. Outside the lab, Leah enjoys yoga, painting, and beach days. We’re excited to welcome her to the RRUSA team as she helps rebuild Florida’s reefs!

⌚When a dive computer offers not only safety, but also important data to our work to renew reefs 🪸

Our team is using TERN dive computers to place temperature loggers at 10, 45, and 65 feet in our deep-water coral nursery. By tracking how temperature changes with depth, we can better understand where corals can thrive and how to protect them from summer heat and stress.

Thanks to an incredible campaign from Stream2Sea and everyone who supported it, enough was raised to adopt an entire Elkhorn vertical rope in our nursery!

That support goes directly toward the work behind caring for these corals as they grow, from regular nursery maintenance and monitoring to preparing corals for their future on Florida’s Coral Reef.

Reef Renewal USA grows and outplants resilient corals of the future at an unprecedented scale, leveraging science and innovation to rebuild coral reefs in a rapidly changing world.
