The Key West Girls Softball Recreational League is deeply saddened by the passing of James “Rocky” Portier.
For generations of young athletes in Key West, Rocky was a familiar and respected presence on the field. He devoted more than six decades to officiating baseball and softball in our community, helping young players learn and enjoy the game.
His service reached far beyond the calls he made. Rocky gave his time, knowledge, and love of the game to generations of local children, and his impact will continue to be felt throughout our community.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Rocky’s family, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of sharing a field with him. Thank you, Rocky, for everything you gave to Key West youth sports. You will be remembered.
