Today is Shark Awareness day! It seemed like the perfect day to post pictures from our last day at CMDFcamp. We were so fortunate to spend the day with the scientists from Shark Docs! Besides getting our hands dirty, we were able to tag and collect data on a Tiger Shark! 👀🦈. All the campers agreed this was a pretty amazing day!

* All research with SharkDocs was conducted under permits from NOAA, FWC, and Florida DEP as necessary. Participant and animal safety is the top priority.

Dive 2 on Wednesday afternoon is all about doing maintenance on corals that have been planted previously. Its a great way to see how these older corals are thriving and to have some heated debates with our protective fish friends too! 😉

After practicing in the classroom we get to put it in action out at the reef! Dive #1 was coral outplanting.

Wednesdays are our long long long day! It starts in the classroom learning about coral, Coral Outplanting, and coral maintenance. Before we can get to work underwater we have to practice our skills above water.
Then we follow it with an afternoon dive outplanting coral and another dive doing maintenance. And if thats not enough, we rush back to headquarters for "breakfast for dinner" and then out for a night dive.

It wasn't all fun and games this week at Curious Minds Scuba camp. Quite a few students opted to spend their free time studying. They became advanced open water divers, took the nitrox class or the NAUI/DAN first aid class. We even had one student who took his open water certification class this week!
