Prepare for the coldest temperatures thus far this winter season, including low wind chills falling to the upper 20s to lower 30s in the Upper Keys, and the mid to upper 30s in the Middle and Lower Keys.

Secure loose, lightweight outdoor objects around your home, office or business. After squally showers with the cold front passage Saturday morning, a period of strong sustained northwest winds peaking 30 to 35 mph with frequent gusts exceeding 45 mph is likely from late Saturday afternoon through early Sunday morning. These winds may blow around loose, outdoor objects, down tree limbs, cause isolated utility outages, and produce hazardous crosswinds for high-profile vehicles on the more elevated, longer bridges in the Florida Keys.

Be aware of minor to moderate coastal flooding along the Gulf shores of the Lower Florida Keys, similar to a higher-than-average King Tide, with minor coastal flooding, similar to an average King Tide, along the Bay shores of the Middle and Upper Keys Saturday night through early Sunday morning.

Gale force winds, heavy seas, extremely rough nearshore wave conditions are expected in the Florida Keys coastal waters Saturday evening through Sunday morning. Life-threatening cold water temperatures are likely along the Bayside waters of the Middle and Upper Keys.

Buccaneer Blast update. Due to a strong cold front moving through the Florida Keys on Saturday and Sunday the regatta had to be postponed. We are currently looking at dates in mid April and will let you know as soon as possible.

Winds this weekend are expected to be 20-30 mph with gusts to 40. Wind chills on Sunday morning will be around 35 degrees. Safety of our sailors and volunteers is our first priority. Everyone stay safe this weekend.
