Greater Miami Chapter of the AMS

Greater Miami Chapter of the AMS Miami is the epicenter of hurricane related meteorology. Additionally, there are many people among the general public who are interested in weather.

Multiple facilities focusing on research in tropical meteorology (AOML/HRD, RSMAS/UM, FIU) and operational institutions (NHC, WFO Miami) call this city home and make up a unique community of meteorology aficionados. The local chapter serves as a platform to meet, discuss and educate. Scientists and laypersons are invited to our meetings where we hear and talk about all kind of things related to weather & climate.

The Greater Miami Chapter of the American Meteorological Society hosted a meeting at AOML on December 10, 2018. The speaker for this meeting was Brian McNoldy, who is a Sr. Research Associate at University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Research (RSMAS) and a Capital Weather Gang Tropical Meteorologist. McNoldy gave an informative presentation entitled “The 2018 Hurricane Season in Review”. Thank you Brian!
