TODAY WE HAVE THE HONOR OF CELEBRATING VETERANS DAY!

Help honor our veterans by making a donation to ipadsforsoldiers.org for our holiday delivery of iPads to heroes still serving overseas, and those recovering from injuries stateside. Today and everyday we must remember what it means to be a true American. We must always strive to do our individual part in showing our deepest gratitude for and support of our heroes. ATTENTION MIAMI AREA PEOPLE AS WELL AS VETS (show is FREE for VETS!):

This Wednesday, November 10 at 8:00 PM at the Knight Concert Hall, City Theatre returns for the first time with a live and in-person performance of an amazing play, WAR WORDS by Michelle Kholos Brooks.
This is a salute to Veterans Day based on interviews Brooks had with active military and veterans, telling the true stories of soldiers who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan, and the challenges they find as they transition into civilian life.

It is a play commissioned by the Atlantic Council with the purpose of bringing community together around a work of art, in this case a play. It’s to build closer understanding among the general population of what service really means for the small population we expect to fight our wars in defense of our country – people in our family, our neighbors, acquaintances, stranger. For veterans, it’s a unique opportunity to sit in the audience and have their words and experiences as soldiers reflecting back to them from the stage. It’s storytelling at its best – compelling, interesting, surprisingly funny, inspiring. As the “long war” in Afghanistan, it’s also incredibly timely. A talk-back moderated by NBC6’s Willard Shepard (himself a veteran),with a panel including the playwright, veterans, and a doctor from the VA.

Footsteps to Freedom” was our art installation at Art Basel which depicted the stories of soldiers and the sacrifices our troops make for our freedom through the transformation of combat boots by various artists. Happy November and Happy National Veterans and Military Family Month. This month we want to focus on celebrating and honoring our soldiers and their families by providing a record number of iPads to soldiers for the holidays. These next couple of months are especially hard on our military families. We are afforded the freedom and safety to spend the holidays with our families and in return it is our responsibility to support the people that sacrifice everything for us. We are then turning our attention to raising the money to send ipads to the unit that suffered these horrific losses. All money raised goes only to the purchase and shipping of the ipads.
