🚨 URGENT SURGERY FOR LUCY 🚨

When it rains… it pours.

Do you remember Lucy, who suffered a devastating crush injury in a tragic accident at our shelter partner Animal Voice in Bitola, Macedonia?

The impact left Lucy with severe internal bleeding and a broken pelvis. With your incredible help, we were able to get her to Bulgaria, where she underwent complex surgeries on both sides of her pelvis back in June.

Since then, Lucy has been recovering at the shelter.

But yesterday, everything changed.

Lucy was rushed back to the hospital in Bitola because she was struggling to walk properly. An X-ray revealed something awful: one of the pins from her previous surgery had broken away from the surgical site and was floating inside her abdomen.

This is an extremely dangerous and urgent situation. Tomorrow, Lucy must undergo surgery to remove the pin before it causes permanent internal damage — or worse, becomes fatal.

At the same time, Lucy will undergo an FHO surgery on her right leg, which is causing her significant pain.

This is a completely unexpected expense for us, but we have no choice. Lucy needs this surgery, and she needs it now.

She is currently hospitalized, waiting for surgery tomorrow, and we need to raise €700 (approximately $785 USD) to cover the cost.

We desperately need your help.

URGENT 🚨

FERN IS FIGHTING FOR HER LIFE AGAIN

Fern was rushed back to hospital after she began struggling to breathe. She was given oxygen immediately and was literally fighting for her life.

X-rays and CT scans showed that fluid had once again filled her chest, something Fern has battled before. The vets had to drain the fluid again so she could breathe.

I feel so incredibly sad for Fern. Since the day she was rescued from the streets, when we first heard her painful cries for help, she has endured one medical battle after another.

She is struggling again. She is back in hospital. And honestly, saying I am worried about her is an understatement.

I am incredibly grateful that her foster and Dadeg B Kamel got her to the hospital in time. I truly believe that without them, we could have lost her.

Fern needs us again. Please, if you can help us continue fighting for this precious girl, we desperately need your support.

GUNNER STILL HAS SO MUCH LOVE TO GIVE

Look at Gunner now.

After everything this sweet boy has endured, he is still playful, gentle and so happy to see Menna kotb when she visits him.

After being chained so tightly that the chain cut deeply into his neck and left him suffering on the streets of Cairo, Gunner is still one of the sweetest souls.

He could have every reason to be afraid of people, yet Gunner continues to show us nothing but kindness and forgiveness.

We haven’t received much support toward Gunner’s care, and his recovery will be a long one. Please see this beautiful boy and consider supporting his journey.

SUGAR’S JOURNEY CONTINUES

You may remember Sugar, who was thrown from a balcony in Kolkata, India, leaving her with devastating injuries and the loss of both front legs.

With limited medical access in Kolkata, we transported Sugar by car to Delhi over four days so she could receive care from our trusted vet.

Additional testing revealed that both of Sugar’s elbows are dislocated from the fall. She also has a blood parasite that is causing significant weakness.

For now, Sugar is safe in a foster home in Delhi while she receives treatment for the parasite and regains her strength. We are still determining the best way to treat her legs. Surgery may be an option, or rehabilitation may be the better path.

Whatever comes next, Sugar is finally safe, loved and receiving the care she desperately needed.

All Journey ever needed was a gentle touch. ❤️

Instead, this tiny puppy was hit and left with spinal and nerve damage.

Today, she lies in a hospital in Cairo, Egypt, and something as simple as being gently petted brings her comfort.

She should never have known pain. But now, she is finally feeling love.

Journey still has a long road ahead, and her medical bills continue to grow. Please help us give this sweet baby the care she deserves.

Over the weekend, our team in Mexico was invited to join the Oktoberfest event with Harley Toluca at Hacienda San Martín!

It was a fantastic day meeting people, sharing our work, and spreading awareness about the animals we are helping across Mexico.

We’re so grateful for the invitation and excited to have been invited back for Harley-Davidson’s Halloween event in Mexico City!

GUNNER’S STORY: CHAINED, ABUSED AND LEFT TO SUFFER

This does not happen overnight. This is the result of prolonged abuse and neglect. And perhaps the hardest part to comprehend? Gunner had an owner.

Just look at his neck. The deep wounds were caused by a chain so tight it cut into his flesh. Can you imagine the pain and suffering this poor boy endured?

Gunner was found chained on the streets of Cairo, Egypt, without food or water. A concerned person witnessed his situation and reached out to someone she knew who loved dogs. She stepped in, freed Gunner and got him to a veterinary clinic, despite having no plan or funds to pay for his care.

Then the so-called owner came forward, claiming Gunner was his dog and that he was fine.

Fine? Look at him.

There was absolutely no way Gunner was going back to the person responsible for his suffering. Even after receiving personal threats, the woman refused to hand him over. Instead, she reached out for help—and that is where Stray Dog Support and Hope Rescue stepped in.

We arranged for Gunner to be transferred to another hospital for a full examination, blood work and extensive testing. Thankfully, his test results were okay. But his wounds are incredibly deep and require intensive wound care multiple times every day.

Gunner will remain in the hospital as he begins his long journey toward healing.

And despite everything he has endured, this boy is the sweetest soul. He is also absolutely stunning. He deserves to know kindness, comfort and love—not cruelty and pain.

We are incredibly grateful to the person who refused to look away, took action and stood her ground even when threatened. Because someone cared enough to act, Gunner now has a chance at a better life.

Please help us give Gunner the medical care he desperately needs. His recovery will take time, and the costs of hospitalization and daily wound care will continue to add up.

See something. Do something. Be the voice for those who cannot speak for themselves.

KUKU FINALLY FOUND HER FAMILY - PLEASE WATCH ❤️

Do you remember Kuku, the senior dog discarded at a California shelter that we helped rescue?

With the incredible help of Mary Groom Mary Groom we were able to pull Kuku from a high-kill shelter. After five months of care, a four-day, multi-state, 18-hour final day road trip to New Jersey, Kuku was finally handed over to her new mom, Jody.

The love was instant, and it brought tears to my eyes knowing that Kuku, who is around 15 plus years old, will spend whatever time she has left surrounded by love and safety.

This was a massive effort by Mary, who not only helped save Kuku but cared for her for five months, took her to vet appointments, and made sure she had everything she needed.

Kuku’s story could have ended very differently. She was thrown away simply because she was old. But now she has a family who will never give up on her.

Please don’t dump your dog in a shelter because they are old. And please consider giving a senior shelter dog the second chance they deserve.

We are so honored to have been a part of this girls journey!

The Hope Rescue Shelter Is Almost Finished

Construction continues on the new Hope Rescue shelter in Cairo, Egypt, and we are getting closer to the finish line. There is still a little way to go, but this week the team has been focused on completing the clinic, which was made possible through funding from Promo Labs.

Now we need to finish the remaining construction so the dogs can finally begin moving into their new home.

Thankfully, we have been negotiating with the landlord of the old shelter to give the Hope team additional time to move the dogs. Weather delays and rising material costs have made this project challenging, with construction costs increasing as the work progressed. We are incredibly grateful that the landlord has worked with us to give us more time.

There is approximately $8,500 still needed to complete the project, and we urgently need to raise $2,000 by the end of this coming week to pay for electrical work that has already been completed.

This new shelter is critical for Hope Rescue. They must vacate their current premises, and this new sanctuary is where more than 600 dogs will have a safe place to live.

This project has been a collaboration between Hope Rescue, Stray Dog Support , SPCA International , World Depot Corporation, Promo Labs, a private donor and everyone who has contributed along the way.

If you can help us finish this shelter, you will be part of something truly amazing: creating a safe and permanent sanctuary for more than 600 dogs.
