We love opening the mail! Yesterday KAUW received a check from the Kewanee Kiwanis Club! Thank you all for your generous donation!

Recently the Kewanee Kiwanis club invited Kewanee Area United Way(KAUW) to talk about the SHOES FOR KIDS project. It was a fun luncheon mostly because members were engaged and asked great questions! In September members will join KAUW to complete the final sort of shoes in preparation to distribute the shoes to kids!

Great partners make Great projects!

SHOES FOR KIDS UPDATE
June featured the first signup for SHOES FOR KIDS. The first order of shoes has been made. On July 30th the second round of signups will be held at the Housing Authority and shoes ordered within the first week of August.

August means back to school! And Kewanee Area United Way will be at Lyle, Irving, Belle Alexander and Central Elementary BACK TO SCHOOL days to signup kids needing shoes. Any child that is approved for free or reduced lunches and attends a Kewanee school qualifies to receive shoes. About 250 kIds (PreK through 6th grades) will be receiving shoes in August and September.

Shoes are provided at cost from our local vender BREEDLOVES! Shoes are ordered by size and gender as specified at signup.

We are so excited by the response of individuals and businesses that have stepped up since the board approved this community project in March.
