✨A Very Special Announcement:✨

A wise woman once said, “Don’t ever make decisions based on fear. Make decisions based on hope and possibility.”

In 2004, I founded a national non-profit organization for girls and women with disabilities, The Miss You Can Do It Pageant. For the past 19 years, I have been known as “Miss You Can Do It”.

When I was told I could never win the local fair queen pageant because of my Cerebral Palsy, I still competed. I went on to make history becoming the first woman with a disability to compete at Miss USA as I won Miss Iowa USA 2008.

What I have realized is that time is precious. In the blink of an eye, it is gone. So, we must always use it wisely. In May of 2022, I learned that one of my biggest dreams, to be a mother, might not be possible. At 36 years old, my AMH levels were low and my egg quality was decreasing. I was out of time.

Yet, I wasn’t ready to give up. I was hanging onto that dream for the long haul. I began working with Dr. Allison Rodgers from the Fertility Centers of Illinois, and over the course of a year and a half, I had four egg retrieval procedures and was ready to move on to IVF.

Dr Rodgers said exactly what I needed to hear: “No one is ever completely ready but you can do this!” Over the years, I have shared so much of my life with you—the struggles and the triumphs—and it has always been my hope that in my transparency, I’d ultimately inspire others to go after their dreams. With this in mind, it is my pleasure to share with you my biggest dream come true yet… I am expecting a baby girl in April 2024! 💕

I’ve been nervous to say anything as I am high risk and at just 14 weeks I have already had some complications and a scare.

Please know that this baby is a planned prayed-for dream come true! 💫

I hope my journey can encourage you. Life is full of challenges and hardships, but don’t stop—keep going forward, and make your next move motivated by hope and possibility, not fear.

A huge thank you to Dr. Allison Rodgers from the Fertility Centers of Illinois and Dr. Susan Mitchell of Northwestern Obstetrics & Gynecology. Without their love and support, I would never be brave enough to go after this dream.

Finally, I would be so appreciative if you surround this special baby in prayers. She is already so dearly loved.

Much Love,

❤️Abbey
