Flourish Foundation - Transform the Mind, Inspire Change Flourish creates intergenerational experiences that strengthen awareness, expand perspective, nurture compassion, and hold space for our changing seasons.

RELEVANCE OF OUR WORK:

Although the 21st century has proven to be an incredible time of innovation and growth, humanity is beset by an unprecedented degree of violence, political corruption, environmental degradation, social injustice, and psychological disorders. It is our belief that at the root of this human caused suffering are the mental imbalances of hatred, greed, selfishness, and delusion, and until we adequately address these imbalances of the mind it will be difficult to create and sustain positive solutions toward our most difficult global challenges. For hundreds of years, contemplative practices have been used as a sustainable means for cultivating the mind and heart in ways that give rise to lasting fulfillment, compassion, and interconnectivity. Recently this has been corroborated by eminent scientists in prestigious universities who have confirmed that such practices have the ability to change the way human beings view and engage with the world. The work of the Flourish Foundation focuses on furthering the development of these contemplative approaches to support children, parents, teachers and all other members of the community in becoming effective instruments of positive change both individually and collectively.

New offering alert!

Join us from 5:30-6:30pm on Fridays each week (beginning tomorrow, Oct. 2nd!) to experience movement, breath, and community yoga led by Emily Freudenberger.

Trained in Hatha yoga, Emily builds classes rooted in alignment, creativity, and connection with the breath.

Classes will explore yoga philosophy while offering students the spaciousness to feel supported in their own explorations of body, spirit, and our relationship with the living world around us.

All levels are welcome.

No registration required. Donations welcome.

“My grief says that I dared to love, that I allowed another to enter the very core of my being and find a home in my heart. Grief is akin to praise; it is how the soul recounts the depth to which someone has touched our lives. To love is to accept the rites of grief.” - Francis Weller

Please join us September 20th at 5:00 pm to honor our grief in community.

There are the obvious griefs; the loss of a loved one, the ending of a relationship, an unexpected illness or diagnosis. But there are so many other griefs about which we do not speak or acknowledge in any way. The loss of species, the desecration of the natural world, genocide, war, the harm carried through the generations of our family, the times that we were unloved or unsupported by our parents or caregivers. We carry these griefs without acknowledging them and they become heavy, cold, congested, frozen.

In this vigil, we begin the slow and gentle process of warming our grief, so that it may move. Not in an effort to eradicate it or somehow banish it. But to come into right relationship with it. Perhaps, to even recognize that it is there at all.

We invite you to join us in this radical act of self care and community.

Registration for this even is required and limited to 20 spaces. Visit our website to register.

Community Sing is an offering for anyone with a voice (yes, you!) in which we gather to share in song, noise making, and keep the age-old tradition of singing in community alive. We believe firmly that every person has a voice with the power to carry song and story on its breath, and that there are no bad voices. Songs are taught to all each meeting and supported by percussion.

Community Sing is BACK September 17th after a brief summertime hiatus. This fall/ winter join us twice a month, on the 1st and 3rd Thursday from 6:30 - 8:00 pm at the Flourish Foundation.

No registration is required. People of all ages and perceived singing "ability" are welcome. For more information, look to our website. Or, contact Emily, [email protected]

This June, a few of our Compassionate Leaders Program students traveled to the Eastern Cape of South Africa with the generous support of this community.

While the roadside giraffes, zebras, elephant parades, and buffalo reminded us we were far from home; relationships built on years of care, embodied compassion, and a genuine, heartfelt love told stories of closeness and belonging.

These international immersion trips serve to remind us of our shared humanity. To build bridges across culture and an understanding of what it means to move through the world from a place of love and interdependence.

Deepest gratitude for the beautiful students and adults we are so lucky to know in South Africa. To Julia and . To Charlie, the Mamas, Asanda, Este, Wayne, and Trelss. To the students for showing up with such open and curious hearts, and to everyone who has supported their growth.

If you are curious about the Compassionate Leaders Program please email Emily, [email protected] or Neil, [email protected].

Please join us for a curious, compassionate, and confidential discussion of death and dying. If you would like to talk to others about death but find that your questions make people uncomfortable, or if you just don’t know where or when it’s ok to talk about death, you’ve found your gathering.

We believe that creating a familiarity and ability to discuss death adds meaning and depth to our lives.

This is not a grief group or therapy session, and you don’t need to have directly experienced death or know someone that is dying in order to attend.

Facilitators are on hand to help each group keep the discussion moving, but the content is very much determined by the attendees.

Death Cafe's will be held the second Thursday of each month from 6:00 pm - 8:00pm at the Flourish Foundation (1030 Airport Way, Hailey) beginning September 10th. Please visit our website for more details! Snacks will be served.
