Bike week is one of our favorite weeks we share with schools across the valley. This year we have the opportunity to also host a bike week at Pioneer Montessori.

We worked on safety, rules, and how to have fun while being a smart rider.

We recently had such a fun opportunity with a school group from the Pocatello area. We took these kids and their teachers to Murdock Creek, just north of SNRA and dove into macro invertebrates.

The kids were able to be hands on for this awesome outing.

Many great questions were asked.
Many memories made.
And best of all these kids got to be outdoors with their peers.

Fall is in the air, and the ERC’s Safe Routes to School program is well underway. You may see the trailer or the kids on bikes at a school, or traffic garden near you.

Through this program, many learn to ride a bike for the first time, graduating from strider to petals. They learned how to properly fit a helmet and how to follow the rules of the road.

The data is in: life is more healthy and fun on a bicycle; where you can truly connect to nature while safely getting from here to there.

The view from the hut, a moment of solitude and reflection at sunset. EcoCampers, once on a trip, are given time to be alone in nature. While supervised from a distance, they sit quietly and reflect on the journey, their own growth, and the challenges they’ve faced and overcome.
