Please give us a like and follow! ❤️

I haven’t truly figured out the purpose of this page I just know that God put this on my heart and it takes a lot of courage to use my voice and I think it’s time to give it a shot, it could help save someone struggling just like I was. I’m very passionate about this cause and it’s not funded by anyone else and it’s not about money. It’s all about raising awareness and seeing what kind of change we can make in our corrections system.

I’ve already gotten a text about receiving books for inmates and I’m going to see exactly what is approved for them, I’m hoping to share my story sometime next week and bring some experience, strength and hope to those that need it in their trying times.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and check out my page! I appreciate and love you all and remember this is why we recover out loud!!

Good Morning Everyone!

I started this group to share my experience in the Texas system, county jails, and TDCJ. After spending my time in prison and county I realized sooo much that was lacking for our inmates particularly women because that was the population I was in, I’m sure our men inmates lack some vital resources as well. So when it comes to county jail in Kerr I noticed that the men did get some AA brought to them in the jail but us women only had life skills and church. Those are usually the only options in most county jails. I feel like we have an issue worldwide of locking up addicts and throwing away the key especially here in Texas without giving us any resources to learn about our addiction, coping skills, trauma, and getting to the root of the and the void of what is missing. Luckily we did start a drug court in Kerr county around 2018/2019 I was the first female graduate in 08/2021.

In starting this page, I have been talking to a relative that is in law enforcement and is also head of the Gillespie county jail and over Christmas at our family gathering we started talking about the lack of resources for addicts and inmates that struggle with mental health. A couple of weeks ago I asked if I could bring a meeting or meetings to the jail or just share my story. I got my volunteer paperwork and I’m ready to hit the ground running. I still have to contact a couple of people with Kerr county but this is my first small goals for this project.

If anyone would like to help support this cause, join in on meetings, and help point me in the direction of where j can buy some AA literature in bulk that would be approved of course just let me know!
