Schreiner Equestrian

Schreiner Equestrian Schreiner Equestrian is a club sport team that will compete within the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) in Zone V, Region 4.

Competitions are judged on equitation which is considered the skill and correctness of the rider. Our goal is to allow students of all skill-levels to better their equitation and horsemanship. We welcome riders of all levels of abilities, whether you’ve never been on a horse in your life or you’re a lifelong equestrian.

🎓Our 2025 - 2026 Graduating Seniors🎓
Our last graduating senior of the 2025 - 2026 academic year is Jordan Hester! We asked her a few questions about her journey, and here’s what she shared:

Jordan shared that being a part of this team has meant so much more to her than just riding horses. Jordan said it has given her a sense of community, support, and confidence throughout college. '' I've met incredible people. I learned how to push myself outside my comfort zone. and created memories that I'll always carry with me. The team has became a place where i could grow both as a rider and as a person''.

The biggest takeaway from being a part of this program for Jordan was that:
''The biggest lesson I've learned is patience and resilience. Horses teach you very quickly that progress doesn't happen overnight, and ever setback is an opportunity to improve. The program also taught me the importance of trust, consistency, and staying calm under pressure - lessons that apply far beyond riding''.

When it comes to favorite horses, Jordan said:
“My favorite Camp Stewart horse has been Dually, I loved working with her because she taught me a lot about confidence and communication as a rider. Every ride with her challenged me in a different way, and I always felt like I learned something new after getting out of the saddle''.

Some advice from Jordan to our new recruits:
'' Don't compare yourself to anyone else, and don't be afraid to make mistakes. Everyone progresses at their own pace, and every rider has something different they're working on. Be open to learning, ask questions, and enjoy the process. The more time and effort you put in. the more rewarding the experience becomes''.

After graduation, Jordan is attending the University of Liverpool for graduate school to continue pursuing her education. ''Because of that, I probably will not have many opportunities to be around horses regularly for a while. Even so, being apart of this program has given me experiences and lesson that I'll carry with me, and I hope that someday I'll be able to reconnect with riding again in the future''.

What a beautiful testimony to your growth, strength, and heart. We are so proud of you, Jordan 🤍🐴

🎓Our 2025 - 2026 Graduating Seniors🎓
Our second graduating senior is Katelyn Maher. We are so proud of everything Katelyn has accomplished during her three years with the team! We asked her a few questions about her journey, and here’s what she shared:

Katelyn shared that being a part of this team has meant the world to her. “These women have become my family and I'm so grateful for my time here''.

The biggest takeaway from being a part of this program for Katelyn was that: “Riding horses has taught me to never give up, you can do anything if you just keep trying”.

When it comes to favorite horses, Katelyn said:
“Roxy and Encore are my favorites. Roxy is my baby and she can never do wrong, and Encore always does his best ”.

Katelyn's advice for first year riders is to keep moving forward.

After graduation, Katelyn eventually plans to have horses of her own!

We appreciate the memories shared throughout your time on the team, Katelyn, and wish you the best moving ahead 🤍🐴

🎓Our 2025 - 2026 Graduating Seniors🎓
Today we are celebrating Gwen Rangel, not just for finishing her education, but for everything she has contributed to this team along the way. We asked her a few questions about her journey, and here’s what she shared:

Gwen shared that being a part of this team has given her the opportunity to learn and compete as an equestrian athlete. Gwen gained some of her best friends and memories from riding with the team! “I would have not had the chance to ride without this program.”

The biggest takeaway from being a part of this program for Gwen was that:
“I have learned that you may not always be able to control how well your lesson or your show round goes, but you can control how you act, how you treat the horse, how you behave towards your teammates, and your mindset.''

When it comes to favorite horses, Gwen said:
“Ed is my favorite camp horse because he is such a sweet, grumpy ol' man! ”

Some advice from Gwen to our new recruits:
“To start out with the mindset of doing your best, being open to learning, and creating connections with your teammate! Winning is fun and a good goal to strive for but it is NOT everything.''

After graduation, Gwen plans to work as a veterinary assistant at an equine/small animals clinic until she attends veterinary school!

Thank you for everything you brought to this team over the years, Gwen. We’re so proud of you and can’t wait to see what comes next.🤍🐴
